Kronos USB issues with periods of major latency using Logic

Post by vortexian »

Hi all,

I don't know about anyone else, if I connect to my Mac using the USB from the Kronos, occasionally the Kronos will sound 2 seconds (!) after I hit a key, I have spoken to 1 other user who is having exactly the same problem, he is however not using Logic, the only way to resolve is to create another track in Logic, hit record for several seconds and go back to you Kronos channel, the problem then dissapears for a while, anybody else suffering from this?

cheers

At least you've gotten that far.
How do you see Kronos In logic 9 via USB?
No problems via midi. Just not seeing it as a plug in when using the USB. Cable.

Do you have your audio input preferences set for the Kronos? I have no problem recording the Kronos into Logic 9 via USB.

Tony
I use Logic and Live. I have also experienced this in Logic, but not in Live.
It hasn't happened a lot, but it has occured.

In Live, timing is as tight as expected. Logic, appears to be a hog. (64 bit)

In Kronos/Global/Audio, you must select "USB L/R" for USB 1 & USB 2
in the Bus Select row. Now you will be able to select Kronos as your USB audio in Logic.

""KRONOS is not a plug"", if you have been looking for that, you're wasting your time, at least not until the editor is released.

Are you saying that you do not see Kronos for USB midi?
I don't mean to sound rude, so forgive me for asking, but do you know how to select and set up a track for Kronos USB?

Hi thanks for the reply, firstly If I go to the Kronos/Global/Audio settings, most of those settings are under the heading 'audio input', I can monitor the Kronos through my Mac regardless of these settings, to the top right of this screen there is a box which says 'audio output' (surely this is the one I'm looking for?), this only give the options for 1/2 and 3/4, no option for USB LR as you'd expect as I'm looking to configure the output of the Kronos and not the input?,

I think you should create a new thread for this as you have completely derailed the original topic of this thread - which was about latency when recording.

Please don't tack your own questions onto other people's questions or problems if they aren't directly related.

In internet-forum culture, this is known as "thread hijacking".

Hi X-Trade, you'll note the heading on my thread was USB issues 'and' latency, sorry if that wasn't explicit enough, that would cover both audio and midi issues, sorry I didn't realise this thread title would become subect to overly technical scrutiny, I'm more interested in solutions to both midi and audio issues using usb, as opposed to your grumblement regarding thread titles.

Sorry vortexian, I'm not 'grumbling' about the thread title at all. It just looked like you were asking about problems with latency (from reading your whole post), and then someone else had posted on your post asking about how to even get the USB working.
As a moderator on this forum, I was only trying to make sure that you get the answers or discussion you were looking for when posting this thread, rather than having someone else take over with their own problems.

fair enough, next time i'll make the heading more explicit. I'm sure when the editor comes out these problems will diminish, some of the responses regarding audio have been helpful in this instance.

cheers
