Kronos 1.5 update - update file name and zipping

Post by paterrob »

Hi,
There has been many great posts on this but I am trying to find out the answer to 2 things:

1.

I've done what been said and the files look good except for the fact that the Kronos update 1.5 folder on mine is called, ends with ".tar.gz" not ".taz.gz" (as everyone is indicating in other forums) and the ".gz" part dropped off when transferred to the removable USB drive (unzipped). I'm trying to determine why my file would be labelled ".tar.gz" and not ".taz.gz" as everyone eles sees to be, and,

2.

Some forums state not to unzip this Kronos Update 1.5 file whereas other claim to leave it zipped when transferring it to a removable USB drive.

Thanks for any help with this especially an explantion as to why my file name differs from what seems to be everyone elses.

Thanks,
Robert

tar.gz should be the resulting file.

And the zip file should be unzipped and stored on the drive, this unzips to a tar.gz file and some other files. Copy these 4 files and empty directory to the thumb drive. Don't uncompress (unzip) the .gz file.

Just follow the instructions included with the download, in the "Update and Restore" pdf! They are quite specific. "tar.gz" is the correct suffix.

Just updated to 1.5. Down loaded and extracted everything but the manual. Download took approximately 2 minutes. Installation to Kronos about 5 sec.
No problems. In fact no problems whatsoever with the 73. Had about 5 months.

I'm sorry - but I have to disagree with this comment - respectfully.

The pdf file you speak of does NOT include file names, extensions like the ones that were mentioned in this post - which makes no sense to me. Was it really supposed to be that obvious - TO EVERYONE? It clearly was not since someone had to ask. Just a little more details typing would have been nice.

1. Open the .zip update file.
2. Highlight the entire contents.
3. Drag them onto a USB stick.
4. Install on Kronos.

MIND BOGGLING!!!

Again, sometimes it boggles my mind that people don't understand what I'm saying.

Regardless, I was able to get it to work before I posted my comment.

Sometimes the sarcasm, "funny people comments" are not appreciated to some on this forum.
