Kronos lock up on Akai sample cd load

Was working on a song this morning, and wanted to load some samples from an Akai sample CD I have.
Hooked up my external drive, and loaded the samples. But it locked up the entire Kronos.
No buttons or anything would work.

I had to restart to kronos to get it to do anything.
I tried this a couple more times, same result each time. I tried multiple Akai Sample CD's as well. Locked up each time.
These are official discs from spectrasonics (no bootleg copies, just in case anyone wonders if that's the issue)
I've loaded these exact samples fine in the past on prior Korg synths I have owned (both the M3 and the Oasys)

Anyone else try to load Akai samples yet?
If not, but you have an Akai sample CD that you can attempt to load, and test that it's a system wide issue, and not just my machine?

I have the same problem with a K61, v1.5 OS, trying to load from an East-West Akai format CD-R, using an LG Super-Multi drive. The disk is found and I can look through the programs and samples in Disk mode, but when I select a program and start the load process, some number of files are loaded and then the K61 locks up.
