Using the volume knob in midi

I using my microkorg as a midi controller to control vst instruments. I cant seem to find a way to use the volume knob on the microkorg xl to control the volume of the vst instrument or volume of a midi track in my DAW for example. How can I change this?

The volume knob (on the far left I think?) is an analog volume control of the synth's entire output and thus is not connected to any digital processors and impossible to send MIDI using it.
