I barely use synth brasses anymore on the Kronos, since I like the 'real' synth sound better (from EXis).aron wrote:hehehe hard to tell. No one said anything! The strings actually sounded pretty good, but the synth brass had me laughing.

Technically, yes. Practically, no.klikx wrote:can i use samples from vst i have ? (Strawberry Electric Guitar)RonF wrote: Regardless of what PCG you load into Kronos, the sound rom is the Kronos sound rom. But alas Kronos is a remarkable sampler. If you are unhappy, sample up!
and if yes how to use them in kronos ??
Orange Tree Samples Evolution Strawberry Electric Guitar is a Kontakt library that has Kontakt instruments (.nki files) that use hundreds (maybe even a thousand) of individual samples (.wav files).
To my knowledge there is not any tool that can peform an automatic conversion from Kontakt to Korg Kronos format. Therefore, you could use the Strawberry .wav files but you would need to load them into the Kronos, then create your own Kronos Programs that use those samples -- i.e. load a bunch of samples, create a multisample index that uses those samples, then create a program that uses/points to the multisample index.
Even after you did this you would be missing Kontakt scripting that Strawberry uses to help select the correct instrument articulations.
If you browse the Evolution Strawberry library folder and sub-folders you can see individual samples. For example look at:
\Strawberry Library\Samples\Lead\Sustains (DFD)\Hard Sustain\String 1 and you will see 20 individual .wav files.

Most Kontact libraries are apples to oranges compared to a hardware sampler such as Kronos. The Kontact scripting engine, when used to its fullest (LASS, Orange Tree, etc) is just a different animal and a wholly different product than *just a sample library*. Kronos guitars are actually quite good, some need tweaking, and most patches absolutely come alive when using a guitar to midi conversion device. But, none the less, there are many wonderful non-scripted sample libraries which work quite directly with Kronos, and sound fantastic. I use, for one example, Hans Zimmer Guitars (Spectrasonics) and its outstanding. Akai format....so its an easy import.

The Jp80 strings are outstanding. The individual instruments especially the violin are first rate.johnxyz wrote:Yes, they are lovely - just a shame i'm doing early 80s pop at the moment and not displaying them to their full potential!
I dont know how the JP80 stacks up in this dept...
Too much gear to list.

I think you mean Velvet Strings.Satish Rahi wrote:Extreme and Triton had an excellent Patch (Silky Strings), Not finding an equivalent sound in Kronos. Can PCG from Extreme be imported ? Korg does drop some great sounds in newer models
On the Kronos - I-C035 Stereo Analog String.
And the Kronos version is a LOT better.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

Re: Strings in Kronos are disappointing
Satish, I too was interested in this. Finally got a solution.Satish Rahi wrote:Extreme and Triton had an excellent Patch (Silky Strings), Not finding an equivalent sound in Kronos.
I found that Strings of Silk was a Triton Extreme Combi made up of
Analog Strings 1+2
String Quartet
Camera Strings
In Kronos use
C036 Analog Strings
C021 Big Camera Strings
C033 String Quartet
Use Analog strings at 127, and mix a touch of the other 2.
That as I remember was the sound of Strings of Silk.
