I remember a story from someone at KF who made a Kronos Rack after his synth broke during a car accidant.Carbon Trader wrote:Hey
why doesn't someone cut their Kronos apart - maybe someone with a duff RH3 keybed; or maybe one that survived a carcrash and was written off by the insurer - get some marine plywood and make one and then demo the concept at the next NAMM?
Any volunteers...

Well, I seem to recall early on, right after last year's winter NAMM a discussion about rack, and I can't seem to find any specific supporting evidence.Assyrianpianist wrote:I thought korg already said there will never be a rack version. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

There is going to be no Kronos "module"- trust me on this.
Yamaha S80, Kronos 61.
hear, hear, couldn't agree more.EXer wrote: The V-Synth XT is the best synth Roland have made since the D-50.
In fact the V-Synth XT is the only synth Roland have made since the D-50

pffff
V-Synth is amazing yeah, but its a completely different style of synth.. I wouldn't compare it to Kronos at all.
And software synths are the last thing I would EVER compare to a real workstation synth such as Kronos/Fantom/Triton/Motif etc..
Still very far from getting close to these toys!
Just my opinion.
The M3 concept was PERFECTLY AMAZING! having the module in my flight bag pack while sending the keyboard to the baggage..
I would except same feature from Kronos but Neih.. saleswise, it makes no sense to release a Kronos Module.

Re: pffff
Probably the KOMPONENT system as I remember it was called is too expensive (more hardware needed for coupling etc).Bendor666 wrote:V-Synth is amazing yeah, but its a completely different style of synth.. I wouldn't compare it to Kronos at all.

However, it Korg would enhance the idea they could have not only made different keybeds but also different kind of 'controllers', so each hardware synth would consist of:
- Keybed: choice of 61, 73 (weighted), 88 (weighted), possibly more in future.
- Synth engine: motherboard with SSD etc as a separate and portable item, in the form of an M3-M but without any UI or knobs/sliders/buttons.
- Controller/UI, consisting of (touch) screen, buttons, sliders etc.
By combining one of each group you get a complete synth. You could even buy 2 of one group and interchange (e.g. you buy a new synth engine and reuse the old keybed or controller, or two keybeds and two controllers and take the engine to/from the rehearsal room.
It will cost a bit more for developing, also for buying but Korg could make money out of it. People might buy a new engine without the rest, but people might buy it sooner because of a lower cost.

I too was hoping for a Kronos rack. I would combine it with this controller for a perfect symbiotic
relationship. Check this controller out and tell me it wasn't made for a Kronos rack.

hmmm, got to admit that I'm not feeling the love for that - what a fooking eye-sore.
Doesn't even have a touchscreen (ie one of THE main aspects of Kronos control imho)
I'd rather the keyboard Kronos.... ooh. I already have

Yes the touch screen is really inferior to what is now standard (especially like the Kronos). Even my Extreme has a bigger touch screen.ScoobyDoo555 wrote:drama1 wrote:I too was hoping for a Kronos rack. I would combine it with this controller for a perfect symbioticrelationship.
