Er-1 midi help,,advice

Hello, im a newbie and new to the forum and need some help understanding midi hookups. Im just a hobbyist with music. basically i have a microkorg and just picked up a ER-1 electribe. im confused on how to hookup these together via midi. im really just interested in the drum beats being synched with the appergiator on the microkorg. i see some setups using one midi cable, some two? will i need a mixer or can i run the sound from the Er-1 through the microkorg? thanks everyone, i know this is basic stuff,,but im new.
