Changing portamento time?

I can't find a way to assign a Knob (e.g, Knob5) to control the portamento time for a patch. Surely this is possible.

Just guessing, but portamento on/off is controlled via CC #65. I believe you have to hook up an external switch, (next to the damper pedal switch) and trigger the portamento with that. 8)

I'm not talking about turning it on or off. I want to adjust the portamento TIME

Yeah, I understand. I did not see a way to do that, so I figured the closest you can get is set the time in the portamento settings and then trigger it with the switch.

Portamento time is CC #5. I would definitely think it's possible to set up one of the knobs for that on the Controller / Modulation Knob page. ??

Well, I had already tried sending CC5 in from an external MIDI controller but it didn't affect the portamento time.

As for the Controller/Modulation Knob page, the only thing I could find there was the ability to change the CC value for "External", which I presume means the ability to control what gets sent to external devices.

I'm wondering if there's a real-time sysex message that will do this.

When you select Portamento time in your screen you can assign a AMS source to control it. As AMS sources you could use aftertouch, the different joystick axis or even knobs. Look at AMS sources at the end of the parameter guide.

Rgds.
