How does this Sonata Strings library compare to the Legendary Strings library produced by Korg. (it takes up significantly less space)... I have the Legendary Strings, but I just want to see what the community thinks.
Thanks.
I would call the Korg collection better, but the Sonatina ones have a different flavor and may be worth having around.
hmmm... what things would say are better? and what exactly is the different flavor? I do have the Sonatinas in my autoload right now. But i'm trying to decide if I want to keep it OR just remove the Legendary... (lot more space to be gained though from the Legendary) Gain 600MB from removing Legendary vs only 29 from Sonatina.... so if the Sonatina is "just as good"... may as well free that 600mb for something else...

If you have them both in your autoload just play them and you'll see exactly what I mean. It's little use trying to describe the character of two violin samples if you can easily compare them yourself.
FYI
Korg's Legendary EXs can't be compared with any kind of Sonatina freeware String in any level as far I Know !
The first is a Pro level EXs Library with decent strings articulations and precise lopped samples.
Therefore UMFO the only usage of an auxiliary "Sonatina" type of Strings is to enhance your overall Strings fatness
in Combi mode adding them in ensemble mode only , to get somehow richer unison strings , but not always sound real !

I can't tried because I don't have a free HD library on my Kronos. Only way is to combine with one in which I have a space. Because of that I have to use PCGTools and I need v.2.x of Sonatina (pcg files in this HD library is in v.2.0) and with PCGTools I can't combine different ver. files.
This is the only reason that a need help from someone who wants to convert Sonatina to ver.2.x.
Thanks.

Assuming you have a Kronos yourself, you can convert a Kronos PCG file yourself to the version you need to be used in PCG Tools.
The workflow is very simple:
- Backup your current PCG content (e.g. Save to PCG file)
- Load Sonatina strings
- Save PCG file ... the Kronos will automatically save in your Kronos's version format.
SanderXpander wrote:If you don't have any free banks or even slots PCG tools can't help you either. If you do have some free slots you can do it on the K too.
I have free slots in one HD bank, but I don't know how to put sonatina instr. in this free slots on Kronos. All time when I need to combine various pcg files in one bank I used PCGTools for this.
Thanks for all.

I didn't do this with sample files but I will try. Thanks for suggestion.
Kind regards.
Michel's way is probably easiest and quickest for you. But if you want to load a single program from a PCG file in the future, go to the load screen and then press "open" instead of load. You'll notice that you can "dig in" to the PCG file. Keep pressing open until you see the program you want, then when you click load it will ask you for a location to load to. This is also a great way to audition programs before selecting the ones to keep (you'll need to have the samples loaded though).

This way indeed works fine for programs. Beware that for combis there is a problem that the needed programs are high likely not loaded so the combi will sound different when 'opened' than when ' loaded' as part of a complete PCG file.

I know that I can open program and use them without loading. But when I load I have to determinate bank for this. I don't have free HD bank for this. If I load Sonatina.pcg and put in User Bank GG, I will overwrite current storage with sonatina sounds. Because of that I need PCGTools to add sonatina sounds in empty spaces of my HD bank, but for this it has to be in same ver.
Thanks for all.

Just load and save an older version PCG file on your Kronos and it will be in the latest version.

No you can load individual programs to a location of your choice. You don't have to load a whole bank in one go.
