The Karo Libs for OASYS do not have authorisation codes - that's probably the main reason why Karo no longer sell OASYS versions as the Kronos can happily load them.

Yes, I still have them and from what I hear they are largely the same (one or two different sounds but mostly the same).

That's what I figured. AND.......they're still $99-149! Not that these prices break the bank, but if they're simply reworked libraries the effort required to translate to the Kronos was probably minimal and the original investment in time possibly already recouped. If these were half the price, they would sell a LOT more. Being the Kronos is a more "Mainstream" instrument, this would have made more sense IMO going the volume route in this case. YMMV of course.

That said, I feel the KRS Karo libraries are reasonable. I wish there were more audio demos (Maybe someone will put up on youtube?) as there is no playable "Demo" for these. If they're great, playable, usable libraries with lots of content, I'll gladly pay the $49 so I don't need to program them myself.

Been experimenting some more with the Karo libraries. I also noticed most patches don't really use any of the available controllers on the Kronos.

VJS, ribbon, knobs, ... are never used, which is a shame.

I haven't tried them, but I would at least except e.g. filter with ribbon, vibrator with JS and at least some easily selected random parameters for the VJS and knobs.

Howmtomplace libraries in specific banks

Post by Mister088 »

Hi all. I liked the karo string library. Tried out the trial but it put all the sounds in combi user a bank ( replacing all my existing combis,!!!,)

Is there a way to tell Kronos where to to place the new library sounds ( such as .. Combi user GG?

Thanks

You can use a manual way or PCG Tools.

C'mon , do not even dream that Karo's orchestra library will come even closer to the monsters of East West and Garritan.
Buy it for what it is, play good orchestral sounds live on a gig. For recording many great vsts are out there

Doubt that 'cause you need a specific autorization code 8)
Bought yesterday the Granular Athmo's (EXs54) and the Virtual Analog (KRS54) and had started with the KRS04 Pro Splits and Layers while ago to try it out... IMHO, there is best a lot of potential in those.
program 013 Slow Choir Pad in Exs 54 is it my Kronos or is the something wrong about choir 2 multisample

oh btw, I noticed that the Karo unison library appears to have a few EXs3 patches as well.

Those patches don't seem to use any of the Karo library sounds, because I don't hear the typical demo fade in/out in those patches.

Some of those patches seem pretty good too!

This is also the case with the other strings library. You can use the EX3 banks without limitation.

I too picked up EXs54. First rate if you like the odd and eclectic. I do, your mileage may vary. Also pcked up KRS-55 (Wavestation). Again first rate. I also did KRs-04 ProSplits smokin deal for $19, and KRs-02 STR/Mod7 and KRs-01 ProGrooves.

If you are totally programming impaired, which many of us are, these sets will keep you busy for a very long time. Good starting points for lots of different genres and styles.
Too much gear to list.

I'm totally new to analog synth programming, so yep, that includes me! You should try and search for free libraries though, they're worth it! Check the resources section here or try www.korgpatches.com.

Some of those libraries are really really good!
