Problems with Kaossilator Pro vocoder

Post by 4dnightmare »

Hello! I'm trying to utilize my Kaossilator Pro vocoder and having some issues. I had another one in the past that worked well and I know what settings to use, how to set it up, etc. My problem is that no matter what settings I use, as soon as I take my finger OFF the touch pad, a giant hum arises. And it's not working nearly as well with my finger ON the pad as with my last one. I've tried all the different mic settings (I do use one with phantom power and it's on), on both the microphone filters and the input and mic trim volume, but can't seem to get a nice sound. Any tips? Thanks!

Tom

P.S. Otherwise, the Pro is working just fine. And otherwise, the microphone is working just fine. I've tried a couple different mic output to line input adapters but same issue with both.

Just to test, have you tried with another mic (ie dynamic, something that doesnt require phantom)?

No, and that occurred to me, as well - I don't happen to have another one, though, so I'll have to hit up one of my friends to borrow one. Thanks! I just know this one used to work with another K-Pro, and it works just fine in regular microphone life.

I have had 2 kpros and they each had unique audio issues. You likely will not be able to fix it. Youll need to get another one but that will likely have its own faults. The fireware is badly in need of an update.

I'll probably just keep it, since I was really not planning on utilizing the vocoder much - it just annoys me not to have everything working perfectly. I can KIND of get it to work with a lot of tweaking, but since I had another one to compare to, I know it's not right. Other than that, everything is fine with it.
