EMX-1 & Mopho

I just bought a DSI Mopho Desktop and controller to add to my setup. How can I record the mopho sounds with the controller into the EMX? I would like to be able to make all my beats with the EMX and use the Mopho as an external synth. Ultimately, recording it into the EMX. Do I plug the mopho into the audio in jack? Correct me if I am wrong, midi also needs to be hooked up as well. I know there is a way to do this but, I am new to this. Any help is appreciated.

the EMX does not sample...you need an ESX

I would recommend use the EMX as the controller for the Mopho. So you can sequence it via the EMX step sequencer. To do this, you need one midi cable.

I'm not sure what you mean by "recording it into the EMX", because the EMX doesn't record anything.

You can use the EMX as a MIDI sequencer to play the Mopho according to the pattern you've made on the EMX, so that the EMX and will Mopho play the pattern together.
You'll need a MIDI cable to connect the EMX to the Mopho, and you'll have to configure them to send & receive MIDI signals from each other
The Mopho Audio Out will be separate from the EMX Audio Out, and you'll have to use a mixer to put the audio signals together.

Alternatively, you can play your Mopho + controller by hand while the EMX is playing its pattern.
Again, the Mopho Audio Out will be separate from the EMX Audio Out, and you'll have to use a mixer to put them together.

If you plug the Mopho Audio Out into the EMX Audio In, you'll be using one of the five EMX synth parts to process the sounds that you play on the Mopho (use the "Audio In + Comb" oscillator type on the EMX).
This will be tricky, because both instruments will have to be playing at the same time to make any music, however you'll only have one combined Audio Out signal coming from the EMX.

or you can use audio-in-thru... which lets the audio input play directly thru the EMX main outs but it bypasses the tubes and the effects.

the audio input on the EMX is mono so all you'll need to patch the Mopho thru it is a 1/4inch to 1/4inch TS (Tip-Sleeve/mono unbalanced) cable.

If I was you I'd sequence the Mopho with the EMX. (MIDI out from EMX into MIDI in on MOPHO) set the MIDI channel on the Mopho to the corresponding synth part channel - default is synth part 1 = MIDI channel 1, synth 2 = 2 etc.

theres some other settings that are necessary but if you havent changed any of the default midi filter settings on the EMX it should work.
