Connecting my Kaossilator to my Mac

Hi there. First time posting here. Forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse but I can't seem to find an answer on here. I've always made music on my iMac via FL Studio, GarageBand, etc...but never with a physical device. I got my Kaossilator in the mail today and I was super excited to get it hooked up with Garageband and see what I could do with it. However I found no clear cut instructions on how to do so. Here is what I've tried so far:

1. Connecting the headphone jack of the Kaos to the headphone input on the back of my mac.
2. Connecting the headphone jack of the Kaos to the Line In on the back of my mac
3. Connecting the red and white RCA cables from the Kaos to a 1/8" jack on the headphones and line in on the back of the mac.
4. My logitech speakers have a separate unite for volume control which contain 1/8" inputs for headphones and musical instruments. I've tried connecting the Kaos to each of those both via the headphone jack and the RCA cables.

I add a new "Real Instrument" in Garageband and the best luck I've had is that it records what I do on my Kaos but I can't hear it on my headphones or desktop speakers until after it is recorded and I play it back. As I have been at this for a few hours I'm a little frustrated so I thought I'd ask some experts. What am I doing wrong? All I want to do is record what I've made on the Kaos onto my computer. If I need to ditch Garageband I'm more than happy to. At this point I just want a solution.

You need to go KO headphones to line in unless you get a cheap USB mixer (I use Alesis multimix USB). The mixer is nice as it sends sound over USB and you can monitor sound from the mixer's headphone jack.

There is a way to configure sound on the Mac so you can listen via headphone jack while recording via line in. Just open the system settings and make sure you have the settings straight - sound source is line in, audio out is via headphone jack.

On the iPad GarageBand, you have to turn live monitoring on - it is off
by default (to avoid feedback if a mic is connected maybe?) so maybe you need to read the user guide and find out where you switch live monitoring on or off.

If I get a chance I will look later when I am near my computer with GarageBand on it. Good luck.
