Kronos official DVDs not working / empty

Post by laandodeman »

The DVD's I received when I bought the Kronos appear to have nothing on them. When putting them in my DVD drive, my PC does not recognize it at all.

Anyone has the same experience? Is there an url where you can download the information on these DVDs?

I've posted out these DVDs. If someone left them on the computer - please share.

They certainly should be readable on a PC. When you say your PC deosn't recognise them, what exactly is it doing (or not doing)?

Did you try with another PC? I don't want to say that it's impossible, but in 27 years of using PCs, I never heard of such a thing.

It may also depend on the operating system, if your PC will "find" anything useable on the DVDs. As stated also in the manual, DVD2 does not contain anything else than restore data. This second DVD is also not readable on my PC, if I boot it up with Windows. On the same PC, booted with linux, at least the file system is recognized, but the data consist only of a few large tar/gz containers, if I remember correctly.

The first DVD contains kind of two "partitions", one of them holding a few "PC readable" folders (manuals, license stuff and so on) - the other behaves the same as the complete second DVD. The first DVD's "pc compatible" section should actually show up also under Windows (the second won't), but it may depend on your DVD drive and/or OS version, if it does. I remember that my older Win XP PC with a very old DVD drive didn't read it, but my newer Vista PC did. That kind of dual session DVD is not really conforming standards.

But, nevertheless, the useful data on the first DVD does not really contain anything that isn't also downloadable from korg.com (leaving minor text files with GPL and midi implementation features apart).
