Like the funky beats you pull out of your sleeve js but the most enjoyable is see you using the editor to quick overlook the patches... someone who's using and gonna use the possibilities of what he has and not wining on what he hasn't.
Very nice for a change ;)
Thanx 4 the share.

Hey there - thanks!

I have the editor working for what "I" need. But it very helpful when it comes to doing the videos.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks for posting your video, Jamsire. :)
Regarding my posts here, I decided to start up the Kronos Editor as well to test if my DAW was receiving any MIDI data from the Kronos, while the Kronos was being controlled by my Akai MPD32.

I have recorded the Kronos Editor MIDI event section to a video and uploaded it to Youtube (see below).
The first set of chords (Kronos German Grand) is played from the on screen pads on the Kronos.
As you can see, my DAW is receiving MIDI data from those chords (in this case the notes of the chord).
The second set of chords (starting at 00:12) is triggered from the MPD32.
As you can see, my DAW doesn't receive the MIDI data from the chords in this case.

I can tell from your video, that your DAW is receiving MIDI data from your Kronos, when you trigger it through the PadKontrol.
And as you told me before, your PadKontrol is hooked up directly to your Kronos (just like my MPD32).
So the actions you perform on your PadKontrol result in MIDI data being generated AND send to your DAW.

Can you confirm that if you trigger a chord from your PadKontrol, that you can record the MIDI notes of the chord in your DAW sequencer (CuBase 6 if I remember correctly)?

I "think" I figured out the issue.

1. Go to the GLOBAL page and select the MIDI tab. At the bottom, there is a parameter that says "Pads MIDI Out." Select the button that says "Chord Notes."

2. I am not familiar with the settings on the AKAI, but on the padKontrol, all of the pads are set to MIDI CHANNEL 10 - the first 8 pads control the chords notes. When I change the midi channel on a single pad in the padKontrol to the Kronos global midi channel "1", I NO LONGER GET CHORDS!! I only get a single note! BUT - with that single note on midi channel 1, I get to apply CC messages the other 7 pads. Wacky.

Try my suggestions. I can still make the video - I was really having some issues with Cubase and Camtasia working together on the same sound card - but I think I found a work around, which is good.

I had the Akai LPD 8 pad controller, and that suggestion didn't do it.
I only recieved one note of the chord (root) when recording.
Exchanged for the Nano2 and it works as does the PadKontrol, all notes of the chord you are playing.
All of the Korg controllers will do this. I can't find the thread but Dan Phillips confirmed this also. Sorry I don't recall the exact reason.

Yeah I found the thread. But the updated pdf manual basically says the Korg USB controllers "just work."

Yuma - get a padKontrol plain and simple.

I have that setting already on "Chord Notes".
But even if I would put it on the "CC" mode, then I would expect CC-messages to be received by my DAW.

I was thinking about that as well.
So I will return my MPD32 this week and exchange it for a PadKontrol.

Hey Jamsire,

I have returned the Akai MPD32 to the store and exchanged it for the Korg PadKontrol.

After some trial&error I found out that, to trigger the Kronos on screen pads, I have to send MIDI notes from the PadKontrol to the Kronos.
Those MIDI notes are not interpreted by the Kronos as MIDI notes, but as triggers for the on screen pads.

To trigger on screen pad 1, I have to send note C˚4 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 2, I have to send note A4 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 3, I have to send note F4 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 4, I have to send note D˚4 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 5, I have to send note C4 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 6, I have to send note B3 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 7, I have to send note A3 to the Kronos.
To trigger on screen pad 8, I have to send note G3 to the Kronos.

I have no clue why this is, but maybe this has to do with the integration of Korg products.
This way I can succesfully record the MIDI notes of the on screen pads to my DAW.
So that's working now. :)

I tried sending CC-messages related to the Kronos on screen pads, just as I did with the Akai MPD32.
That does trigger the pads as well (and I hear sound from the chords being played), but it doesn't let me record those chords into my DAW.
No clue why it isn't working that way.

I also tried to send other MIDI notes to the Kronos.
That does trigger the notes to play (and again I hear sound from the notes being played), but that doesn't let me record those notes into my DAW either.
Also here I have no clue why it isn't working that way.

So I am partly satisfied at the moment.
At least I can record the output (chords) from my on screen pads to my DAW now.

When I want to use the PadKontrol to record a drum track, I have to reprogram those 8 pads on the Kronos for every song, depending on which 8 drum kit parts (hi-hat, snare, kick, bass drum, etc) I want to use.
I'm not completely happy with that.

I would have loved to send MIDI notes directly to the drum kit, instead of having to trigger them through the on screen pads.
I can use the 16 pads on the PadKontrol to trigger the corresponding notes in the drum kit, and I can hear those drum parts being played.
But yet again, it doesn't send the MIDI notes of those drum parts being played, to my DAW. :(

Not sure if you have any clue how to make this happen.

I think you are doing WAAAAY TOOO much!

I'm going to do a video to address your questions (too much to write).
