Midi routing suggestions needed

Post by skunk3 »

Okay guys, I recently sold my MPC and I now have a problem. My current gear setup (for the purposes of this post) is this:

Korg EMX
Korg ESX
x0xb0x
Korg Micro-X

I have other non-midi stufff which doesn't apply.

What I need to do is to be able to sequence my Micro-X, but I do not like doing so with my EMX or ESX. My audio interface has midi in/out, so what I was considering is sequencing the Micro-X in Fruity Loops Studio and having the midi out from my interface into the midi in of my ESX, and then midi through from the ESX to the midi in on my EMX, and midi through from the EMX to the midi in of my x0xb0x.

I have a couple of questions, as I haven't actually tried this out yet.

First of all, since the Micro-X has a USB connection and doesn't *require* stand midi connectivity to my computer via my interface, I should be able to sequence it in FL while spitting out start/stop info via midi to the ESX, yes?

I don't need a lot of realtime tweakability as far as the Micro-X goes, and I'd prefer to start/stop everything with my ESX or EMX, but I dunno how to hook it all up. What would you guys suggest for routing, given what I am working with?

I like the ESX, kinda like the EMX, but I REALLY miss my MPC 1000 with JJOS. I also upgraded my tubes in both with matched pairs and although the difference in the ESX isn't THAT noticeable, the EMX sounds a million times better... so if you haven't upgraded, do so!
