touchscreen sometimes requires multiple touches
My 61 is brand new with 1.5.2, serial number 7xxx. Everything works fine, but sometimes the touchscreen requires multiple touches to actuate. It beeps every time I touch, but the relevant function just doesn't happen. Most memorably, when loading pcg's for the first time, I had to press the disk selector like 8-9 times before it would open so that I could select the USB drive. Is this a known glitch? I'm also experiencing it in other contexts, but I only specifically remember the USB drive selection glitch. I wouldn't think it's latency due to the USB drive not yet mounting because I sometimes give it up to a minute to mount. And even after mounting I get the glitch when trying to select back to the internal drive. But as I said, the glitch is happening in other contexts unrelated to Disk mode: touches give beeps but no actuation until after several touches at basically the same screen location. Should I be worried?
Have you tried calibrating the screen? This is essential for resistive touchscreens.

Re: touchscreen sometimes requires multiple touches
I have the same problem, but limited to the USB drive access. I always attributed that to a physical issue (disk being used). Am I wrong?...JimmyTheSaint wrote:My 61 is brand new with 1.5.2, serial number 7xxx. Everything works fine, but sometimes the touchscreen requires multiple touches to actuate. Yeah, that's just about the first thing mentioned in the quick start manual. I'll calibrate again, though. But what's up with the beeps? I mean, if it beeps that means it's registering the touch, right?--yet nothing happens. I'm also experiencing this glitch when choosing drum tracks, Karma scenes, programs, etc., though these latter don't give the beep feedback when failing to register my finger.SeedyLee wrote:Have you tried calibrating the screen? Beep just means that you've touched anywhere on the screen - not that you've touched a target. You may find it easier to use a fingernail for selecting smaller targets.JimmyTheSaint wrote:Yeah, that's just about the first thing mentioned in the quick start manual. I'll calibrate again, though. For convenience, here are the calibration instructions:
Make sure to calibrate the touch-screen before using, or when you change the angle of view (for instance, when you move between sitting and standing):
1. Press the GLOBAL button to go to the GLOBAL P0:BASIC SETUP page.
2. Pressthepagemenubuttontoopenthemenu, and select the Touch Panel Calibration command.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
For best results, calibrate using a stylus or fingernail, and press the exact centers of the calibration boxes.

I've always been calibrating with a stylus.danatkorg wrote:Beep just means that you've touched anywhere on the screen - not that you've touched a target. You may find it easier to use a fingernail for selecting smaller targets.

I've just been testing using a fingernail instead of a fingertip to actuate fussy locations, and that appears to work quite a bit more consistently.
In general, screen locations without a function don't beep when you touch them. You mean in some situations, non-active screen locations can beep? The inconsistency makes things a bit confusing when you're in a tight space and the area immediately next to your target gives touch feedback but no function. That makes the touchscreen non-WYSIWYG.
