Has anyone used these two together? Thought I'd seen a thread about this, but I can't seem to locate it. Looking at a used Roland unit for use with my Kronos. Thanks.

I want to use the HPD-10 to play the Kronos drum sounds for midi/audio recording on the Kronos. I'm wondering how the Kronos drum sounds respond to the Handsonic, ( full velocity, filter control, etc.). Also, can you use sticks with the Roland to play drum fills? Any other information from your experience would be very helpful.

I have both too. yes, all that works just fine. you can use the HandSonic as a standard midi controller. You can set up the Kronos to respond to the incoming messages as you wish. Personally, I use my computer (mac) to route and manipulate midi messages as I like...often using Midi Pipe for that purpose.
I suppose you could use sticks on the HPD10 or 15 (I have the 10)....but the pads are mostly too small for it, and there's not the proper settings for pad sensitivity to work well with sticks.
For that purpose, I would suggest the SPD-30...which is a MUCH more full featured machine. I use this abundantly, and think its fantastic, particularly with the Kronos. Its got GREAT pads, a much more robust sound source and synthesis architecture, wonderful sensitivity settings for both hands and sticks, external inputs for additional controllers such as pedals, snares, cymbals, etc, so you can build a very compact but full featured electronic kit, and its got comprehensive midi output. Most importantly, it has a 3 track stereo midi looper onboard, which turns it into much more than a controller...but a very inspiring composition tool for building grooves and beats, percussive or melodic. You can even use it to change scenes in Karma on the Kronos, and more. All in all, its one of the most important pieces of kit in my studio.
Anyways, whichever you get...having a dedicated percussion controller is a great step towards more authentic percussion tracks. Playing on the keyboard has real limitations by comparison.

The SPD-30 looks great. It's just a bit out of my price range. The HPD-10 is used and priced reasonably. I do want to play rolls on it with sticks - maybe light ones? Some of the pads are very small, but I wouldn't be using it to replace a full drum kit. Thanks for your input.

i've tested it too last night, it works flawlessly.
I also don't have drumsticks, it's a percussion handpad, so i doubt that sticks work on the HPD10.

I have both as well and the Handsonic 10 is awesome with the Kronos. I never did a video becuase it wasn't a Korg product.
But...............processing the Wavedrum through the Kronos' audio inputs is CRAZY!!!

Wavedrum looks great too! Played the HPD-10 with light drum sticks at the store today. Worked fine. Thanks.
