Who plans to add another SSD or more RAM at purchase?

as i get ready to pull the trigger on an 88 kronos x
i'm wondering:
1. who will add another SSD at time of purchase?
2. who will add another gb of RAM at time of purchase?
as always, thanks in advance

It's not a bad idea because you can be sure with all the samples that will be floating around now people can stream, that bigger factory drive will fill up.
2. who will add another gb of RAM at time of purchase?
The KRONOS X comes maxed out so there's nothing anyone can do there.

Sharp.

i appreciate your reply. i was just asked about adding the RAM and thought that was INCORRECT.
i'm glad you settled that argument
thank you

i hear that KORG NOW SAYS:
they are developing a DROP IN KIT for installing a SECOND SSD for CUSTOMER USE
can that BE AT ALL POSSIBLE?

Yeah I ran into this situation last night. I was trying to move files around (just to get organized) and since the OS doesn't have a move function in the utilities I have to copy then delete the old files... well there wasn't enough room on my drive to do that... (cause for a brief minute the file would be there in two places)

I guess anything is possible, but in this case I think it's highly improbable.
There is no user door in the bottom of the KRONOS like there are on other Korg workstations. Soon as you take that base plate off things start moving.
The only way I could see it ever happening is if at some point in the future new keyboards came with a completely different base plate than the one they are using now.

update from KORG:
the kit will NOT be END-USER-INSTALLABLE
they are still working on it
no date for release
the work must be done by an AUTHORIZED Korg Dealer
LESS than 1 hour of bench time will be required
the 88-key version will be released by Korg... on or around August 20th
i was thinking of waiting for the "2nd SSD Kit," but i'm sure they won't be coming any time soon

Sorry, I don't understand.
Are you saying korg are introducing some sort of modification kit whereby once they've installed this mod, users can then change SSD drives themselves?
Seems very unlikely that they would release the new x version and offer cheap upgrade prices to current original users if they were about to introduce this. I also can't see how it could be done very easily.
Presuming that isn't what your saying, what is different about this kit than what's already currently on offer (the upgrade currently offered via korg service centres for a second SSD and ram to make your korg the same as the new x version)?

i'm sorry for the change in my information
there will be NO kits for customers to install a secondary SSD themselves
all "warranty-saving" secondary SSD installs will HAVE to be done by an authorized korg dealer
HOWEVER...
none CAN be done (while keeping one's warranty intact) until the KORG-MADE "KIT" to help facilitate this upgrade is developed and shipped to the aforementioned authorized dealers
there is NO release date for this product, unfortunately
so...
Kronos X owners will have to wait if they want to guarantee that their warranties will remain intact AFTER a secondary SSD is installed

I don't get what your saying at all.
Inside all KRONOS keyboards there's a Solid State Bay that can take two drives. So when you buy your new KRONOS X and if you want a second drive installed, buy a drive, a sata cable, and 4 screws.
Hand them to the authorised dealer and tell him to install them.
You seem to think KORG need some sort of mounting system manufactured when this is not true.

yikes,
i really appreciate your expertise
i wonder why korg is telling me otherwise
that REALLY bothers me...
one of those "the right hand never tells the left hand what is going on."
i love this forum...
thanks for running the best online community on earth and for helping me

I'm considering having another drive installed. But it doesn't really seem worth it to install a large capacity one like 120gb etc.... I only have maybe less than 100 mb worth of ram space left After my autoload... So I'm thinking what good would a 120gb drive do me. I can get a 64gb brand new for around $50. And that would probably cover any and everything I would want to load...plus I don't have space for much more....
What do you guys think about that?

i think the point is... you aren't going to load EVERYTHING from your second SSD at one time. because OS 2.0 allows a better file "management" setup. you can "partition" your data on that new drive (no matter how big it is) into "pieces" that can loaded into RAM without OVERLOADING it.
THIS is from the KORG website about this very issue:
User Sample Banks let you create your own high-capacity sample libraries.
Added in Kronos OS v2.0, User Sample Banks bring the benefits of KORG’s EXs to your own custom sample libraries. You can load and play many gigabytes of your custom or converted samples at once, using the internal SSD. Disk and memory management is also improved: you can create subsets of User Sample Banks, and mix and match parts of different banks, without duplicating samples on disk. It’s also easy to share sounds with friends and collaborators, since Programs, Wave Sequences, and Drum Kits maintain links to User Sample Banks even when samples are moved on disk or loaded onto a different Kronos instrument. Create your own samples, or import Akai and SoundFont 2.0 libraries using new, improved conversion features.

I really don't get it... lol. the thing I've not understood from day one is this sentence:
you can create subsets of User Sample Banks, and mix and match parts of different banks, without duplicating samples on disk

i think the key is that an SSD is INFINITELY QUICKER than some EXTERNAL DRIVE, connected by USB. therefore, when you are wanting to play a particular sample... you can load it FROM your SECOND SSD into RAM. of course the speed of an SSD allows you to STREAM that sound, as well.
the new kronos x comes with their expansion sound libraries already installed:

but... the full versions need to be UNLOCKED with a code one purchases online... this takes up space on the 62 gb standard SSD, necessitating a secondary one. i will probably buy a 120 gb model.
