Random Sample & Hold with Wave Sequencing explanation

I've posted this earlier in a different thread, but this is a really nice effect to try out yourself.
I've created a new ambient program. Here's how it sounds at the moment. It's one program where i start with a random positioned S&H LFO with plays one of the sine sounds i selected in each step (8 steps), every sine sound has a different transpose value.
The example starts with only the seeded random sine wave sequence which constantly changes (i could make it completely random, but i've used a random lfo in a predictable range). Then i add the second OSC which is also a Wave Sequence but this one has a steady crossfaded pattern.
Although the sound still needs some tweaking i think it's an excellent example of how fantastic that positioning functionality is for wave sequences.

Now here's how to create this effect:
- press the global button
- press the wave sequence tab
- disable the Run checkbox
- create a new 8 step wave sequence
- fill each step with a raw sine wave from the single wave category
- at each step enter a different transpose value (use these values: 0, 12, 24)
- now add the LFO1 to the wave sequence position and enter the value 8 at intensity steps
- save the wave sequence in a new slot
Then create a HD-1 Program
- select the wave sequence you just created as a source for the OSC
- select Random LFO SH1 for LFO1
- set the checkbox to time based on 4th notes
- now add effects to your liking
Done!

Hey QR - this is beautiful! I've recently been re-watching all your videos and have started putting together a bunch of completely original sounds of my own using your guides as a starting point. If they come out any good, I'll be sharing them for sure.
Thanks for all the really cool work and exploration you're doing on the Kronos. Once you start diving under the hood and realise the possibilities afforded by the system, you can really appreciate the Kronos in a completely different way than you do if you just flick through presets.
I'm finding your input and ideas really inspirational, thank you!
Cheers!

QuiRobinez,
Thanks very much.
May I ask you a question on the subject?
Do you know if is possible be using two or more Multi's at the same time - like we can do it on prog mode (two per OSX)?
Thank you in advance

i'm not really sure what you mean, but i guess that your question is:
can i use up till 4 wave sequences in one hd-1 program at the same time.
If that's your question than the answer is yes. Just set the first wave sequence in osc 1 and 2 to LAYER and load the second wave sequence the next wave slot in osc 1 and 2.
Then you have 4 wave sequences running at the same time. (I'm using this technique in several programs). if you time the wave sequence steps in a different way (or use the Gate function in a step) then you can get really complex wavesequenced sounds.
When i'm going to record the demo of the Magic Cloud soundset i will show a few examples of this. It's really impressive that one program can create those kind of sounds.

your presence on this fine forum is one of the many shining reasons i learn something here every single day
great composition
thanks for the tutorial, as well
i appreciate what you add to my learning curve

i'm learning too every day when reading the things on this forum. Actually i have to give RonF credit for bringing this idea and pointing out to me where i could do this.
That's what makes a community strong, by sharing ideas and learning from eachother everyone can discover new things on the kronos on their own level. And there's so much to explore it seems almost endless

In fact my point is looking for a possibility of using more than 4 MS at the same time on Prog mode.
When I saw your video and this post, I thought that would be possible to set 6 Multis (for example) in a single wavesequence and then select this wave sequence in a prog.
Thank you.

yes you can use different Multisamples in each step. but you can't use two steps at the exact same moment. But say for instance that you have a wavetable of 32 cycles, then you could create a wavesequence of 32 steps and load each cycle as a separate multi sample in each step.
With the position parameter you can do wavetable synthesis this way. If you use the run feature of the wave sequence and use the Xfade you can even simulate the linear interpolation of wavetables this way.
Lot's of possibilities once you dive into this engine.

i'm trying to absorb as much as i can on a daily basis.
what a great community

thanks for the comments, this is only the start of a new part to discover in the kronos.
i want to apologize for the bad sound quality at the beginning of this demo. The noise is added by the bad audio cables i was using. These cables are quite long (10 meters), so they pick up a lot of noise when recording this subtle sounds. Yesterday i've bought new high shielded cables so that problem is gone now. The original sound in the Kronos is of course crispy clear from that patch.
