panic: 2.0.2 updater stalled?
The 2.0.2 update procedure is quite straightforward, and I did everything by the book, FAT32, etc. It proceeded normally, but now I've been on the same "updater version 2.0.2" screen for over 60 minutes. Should I shoot myself in the face now, or wait a bit?

If it's been running for an hour, I'd suggest it's pretty baked. I don't think there's much you can do to help it along.
I'd suggest restarting and attempting the upgrade again, and if necessary recovering from the DVDs.
(As for pulling from the web, I think not!)

Sorry, Sorry. I thought you were talking about installing the editor. You're right, the OS has nothing to do with the web.

Yep. Unfortunately I don't think you've got much to lose at this point. There's really not else that can be done.JimmyTheSaint wrote:So just shut off the power button, remove the USB drive, reboot, and see what comes up?
Worst case scenario is you may need to restore from the DVDs, but my experience is that the upgrade generally either installs completely or not at all. Other people's experiences may differ.

OK, it just rebooted back to 1.5.2, no problem. I'm redoing the upgrade. The only thing out of the ordinary here is that there are other folders in the root folder of my USB drive. The update stuff is all in the root folder, as required (or else the updater wouldn't have proceeded), but there are other, unrelated folders there too. This update just passed the 5 minute mark. If it fails again, I'll have even more leverage to get the retailer to pressure the dealer to provide service.
I would try downloading the updater again as it's possible the version you downloaded could be corrupt. I would also try a different USB stick freshly formatted to FAT32.JimmyTheSaint wrote:OK, it just rebooted back to 1.5.2, no problem. I'm redoing the upgrade. Compared to a corrupt installer or faulty USB stick, the probability of the issue being caused by a hardware or software fault in the KRONOS is minor. Before returning it to the dealer for service it would probably be quicker and easier to use the supplied DVDs to restore, then re-attempt the upgrade. That's why the restore discs are provided in the first place!
Incidentally, I have upgraded and downgraded my KRONOS dozens of times.
Good luck with the upgrade.

It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes tops.JimmyTheSaint wrote:Any estimate how long the update is expected to take? Otherwise, I just sit here with no rule of thumb to know when to abort.

Piece of cake! I formatted a different USB drive, and it took less than two minutes. I also got progress notification, which never happened with the first USB stick, so apparently that one never even got started. The drive that failed was a SanDisk Cruzer Switch. The one that worked was a (newly formatted) SanDisk micro-SSD shoved into one of those junky USB adapters.
That's excellent news, glad you got it sorted and thanks for letting us know.

I had the same problem when upgrading the OS. The process stalled at some point, and I was very reluctant to shut the Kronos off, thinking that this would totally screw things up, so I waited...and waited. I can't recall for sure, but I think there was an on screen warning not to shut off the machine.
But eventually I just shut the Kronos off, waited 10 seconds, started it back up (Yes, it did start normally.), and went through the upgrade procedure again. The second time the upgrade was successful.
Your mileage may vary.
