EMX arp accuracy issue

Hi there, I own both an ESX and EMX , I have just noticed the following issue, can someone else with the EMX please confirm if this happens on their unit and any way of solving it...I am not a novice user by any means but this has got me stumped.

I have the Arp set to REVERSE and I am playing with a DRUM sound and and SLIDER completely in the bottom position.

The ESX works correctly giving me the following 4ths
X---X---X---X---
this will continue for as long I hold my finger on the ribbon.

BUT
on the EMX , I get an issue, with the same lowest position on the slider, holding the ribbon gives me
X--XX---X---X---

can you see that extra X....if for instance I start the pattern exactly on step 1 i would have a drum on 1,4,5,9 and 13 where as on the ESX it is correctly devided to 4ths placing them on just 1,5,9,13.

this is a real pain in the arse as i like to hold the ribbon to lay down all the longer bass drums down (8 bars) live whilst I busy my other hands with my synths.

I have noticed that once this innitial extra mis timed hit is out of the way , it does stabilise.

HELLLPPPP !!!

thanks in advance

actually, i have just ran more tests and its a bit weirder then that even...

I managed to get my touch EXCACTLY on 1 and the staps i end up with are

1--4---8---12---16

so that double note i was hearing is actually the note i WANT to sync my timing to ( in my example wanting to place my bass drum on 1, 5, 9, 13)

also of interest is, without the play button active it never mis-steps it plays the pattern as soon as i touch the ribbon and does so consistently.....odd

that is quite strange. never had that issue with my EMX. Maybe the 'calibration' of your slider is slightly off or its 'dirty' at the bottom position and its values are jumping

Does it only do this in reverse-arp mode? can you get consistent drum's in normal mode?

try this: switch it back to normal arp mode and check on a synth part to see if the slider consistantly hits the bottom note.. and do you have the full 2 octave range with the slider?

your slider might be a bit unreliable at the bottom position which could be throwing the timing of your drums when operating in reverse mode.

thanks for the advice,

I tried it out and the issue is identical both ways which again seems to point to something being wrong in either the software or possibly if there is a componant that "detects" the presence of your finger on the pad.

I have uploaded a sample here..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWeX_WCn ... e=youtu.be

In this example, I have prepaired a simple Onbeat hi hat to let me get my feel for the timing.

i press the arp on the downbeat so that in normal usage the arp should drop in a bass drum note on every other beat.

what happens is the EMX places my innital beat as intended by my own timing, but then adds the second arpegiated beat one step too early, after that each note is spaced the correct distance apart but out of time relative to the first beat.

I tried this at a few other beat devides and seem to always get the mis timing issue...even if i run the arp at its maximum (every step) , I am pretty sure you cna hear a "double" beat of two drum samples being sounded at the same time on the step after my first.

what do you think it could be?
