This is a repost due to the fact the original thread would have been lost because of the server failure.
Here's a video of the KRONOS Editor running on a Windows 8 Tablet PC. Handy for anyone who needs the KRONOS interface in a portable format.

Hi Sharp
Can you use a google Nexus 7 for this and can you use it as a back up device for sequenced songs?
Cheers

Thanks for reposting this Sharp
I think this could become quite an important thread.
I'm getting used to Windows 8 on my Acer Iconia W500 (I also upgraded the mSATA drive to 128Gb, as I also want to try Ubuntu Studio).
The Kronos editor runs with no problems whatsoever, but it's a shame that you can't "pinch zoom" the editor on the desktop

I'm sure there must be an app for that somewhere (you can Ctrl + Mouse wheel on a mac to zoom the screen).
I just have to decide how to implement the MIDI side of things - Should I use the USB connection on the Kronos for Logic and use the Acer via a USB MIDI adaptor to the standard MIDI ports for quick editing or vice versa... I guess it will depend how much sysex data will be zooming around, but I'll try both and report back.

Unfortunately the Nexus 7 is an Android device... you'll need a tablet that runs Windows for the Kronos editor. I got my Acer dirt cheap because someone bricked it trying to install Android OS 4 on it (it can be done... but why?) I managed to recover the bios and get everything up and running.
Look on eBay for Acer Iconia W500 - it does the job really well (I'm also running most of Komplete 7 on it)

At first this intrigued me. So, as a Mac and iPad2 user I thought I would investigate possibilities with these two. Turns out I can use Splashtop app for my iPad2 to access and control both my Macs, and my PC. Truth be told, though, the process was a pain in the ass to set up. It's not friendly, either on a Mac or PC, at least not from my perspective.
However, after installing the app on my iPad, I had to install Splashtop Streamer on my computers I intended to access. After about a good 40 minutes farting and fiddling around with very unfriendly set up (email accounts etc.), I finally managed to connect my iPad to my Macbook Pro. From there, I was able to open and manipulate KRONOS and M3 Editors (haven't attempted KK or KM3 yet but that's next).
Next, I tried to connect to my PC running Windows 7. Same drill as with the Mac setting up the Streamer software. However, once connected, I was able to again open KRONOS and M3 Editors for PC; and I also accessed PCG Tools. Frankly, I think the font size on the iPad is too small for any effectiveness and when you magnify, you loose full view of the applications.
Now, with Microsoft's new "larger" flat panels (the kind JR used at Win8 presentation), this is an amazing step in the right direction, especially when you add LEAP gestural software that's soon to be out.
Apple, you better get your s**t together and put out a decent size iPanel....

22 inches will be just fine for me.

@ EJ2 - suggest you get LogMeIn for the iPad. Absolute dawdle to set up - an app on the iPad another on (in my case) PC. Works on Mac too I believe.
Then through wireless connection, you get your desktop on the iPad

Then you would just open up the Kronos editor and whilst your PC/Mac is doing the work, the iPad is your interface.
Also it will do all this with the free edition, no need for the premium version!

Hi EJ2. Hi cello.
That’s very interesting. I never considered the possibility of using a remote desktop APP.
I wonder how well it would run. Would the Touch Screen of the iPad or Android device for example allow you to push the sliders like I did in the video considering that the Editor wouldn't be running on the Tablet and that it's just a remote desktop.
Very interesting...!!!!!

I tested it this morning and there's good and bad news re remote desktopping on iPad
Good news - the Kronos editor can be sized to fill the width of the iPad and using the mouse can navigate around the app
Bad news - it's really difficult to work the sliders in combis!
Perhaps it's how LogMeIn works that's the issue or it's simply the nature of remote desktop apps and how they interact with the controls
Edited to add pictures:

Nice work, that's very interesting.
Is that Windows 7 your running on your desktop? I'm just thinking here, the problem might not be remote desktop at all. It could be, but there's one other thing to try rule out first.
To control Windows 7 from a Touch Screen with Touch Screen gestures you have to have the Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 installed on your PC.
So, maybe that's the problem, or maybe it is a remote desktop thing.
Here's a link to the touch pack for win7

Hi Guys,
Just reporting back after a few tests. I am able to move the sliders, rotaries etc. However, the iPad2 interface just doesn't do it for me. I find that working with my MacBook Pro and it's track pad, I can edit and manipulate the various functions in the editor with much better accuracy and speed. So, at this stage of development for small pads, I won't be using my iPad/other similar (android) devices. But, when the larger flat panels get down in price I may go that route. Just the same, I can see using a smaller size all-in-one computer with multi-touch (and even LEAP) functionality. In this respect, I think Apple's reluctance to move away from track pads into the world of multi touch screens may prove to be a mistake. Unless it comes out with a 15, 18, or 23 inch iPad/iPanel.
I'm following the development of Lenovo's A720.

There are others coming out, so stay tuned in these interesting times.

I'd only be guessing to be honest.
Sorry.
Could be remote desktop, or the fact that there's no Touch Pack installed on the desktop running the Editor.

As I posted in the now lost version of this thread, I have a Microsoft Surface RT and will soon have the Pro version. The RT won't run the editor natively but the Pro will (along with just about everything else).
The nice thing about the Surface is that you have the option for touch, keyboard, trackpad, stylus or mouse depending on how you want to interact with it. This is true with the other Windows 8 touch laptops/hybrids/convertibles.
Really interesting stuff on the horizon.

Thought people would be interested to see this video with Jordan Rudess and Kevin Chartier talking about Microsoft / Windows 8 etc
Some very interesting information.
