Some Greenhorn Questions

Post by Combatcake »

Hi,

I got a kornos 88 and it is my first real workstation,(my N346 is another level).
Anyway i have some questions:

1: why do i have to change in some combis the midi channel? I select a combi and no sound comes out before i changet the different programs to the same midi channel mostly "gen". Can I set this by default or am i just to stupid to use the Kronos ?

2: Is it possoble to reset a combination or a programm without doing a factory reset?

Thanks for your help dudes

Hiya!

1) What is "gen"?

Well I think the Kronos sends on the midi channel that is setup in global. So if it's channel 1, all tracks set as ch. 1 will sound. This way you can set some tracks to other channels if you have other external sound modules you want to use.

2)Select a blank (init) combi and copy it to that location using the pull down menu (top right).

.
Sorry i ment "Gch"

I think the Kronos sends just on one midi channel, because if i change all the programs in one combi to the same midi channel (for exemple 1 or Gch) it works but there are combis where i have to cange all the programs befor i hear the sound as it sould be.

Does the copiing also restore the karma settins on that particular combi, that is what my porblem there is

thanks

Go to disk mode, open the Factory folder and find the Preload PCG. Open this folder and find the Combi folder. Open this folder and find the bank and program you are trying to reset. Now on the lower left side of the screen there should be three switches, select load. Highlight your Combi and from the lower right side hit the Red Load switch. This will reload factory settings for the Combi.

I strongly advise reading some of the basics of Kronos in the manuals. You will get absolutely nowhere without some basic knowledge of how to navigate this monster. You will find plenty of help on the forum but there are some things you just have to get a grip with yourself… :-)
