Korg Kronos is my first workstation and I like using it. I've a question regarding midi in/out and audio in. What would be the best practice to connect an external sound module, but using the kronos also for recording.
I assume that I have to connect the midi out of the kronos with the midi in of the external sound module and the audio out of the sound module with the audio in of the kronos? Is midi also possible with usb? My monitor boxes are directly connected to the kronos at this time. I don't have another external mixer.

I use midi over USB into my PC since I use a DAW, it can also talk to my Juno-G over USB so best set-up for me.
If you have more than one sound device then a mixer is a good idea (but you need to check how many stereo channels you need before buying one).
If you just have the Kronos then output straight to monitors is the way to go.

My current configuration:
KontrolPad plugged into the Kronos USB, it not only controls the beast, it is also powered by it.
MIDI out on the Kronos is connected to the Virus TI Snow (sound module).
The audio inputs (L&R) on the Kronos have the Teenage Engineering OP-1 connected.
I commonly re configure the keyboards and other equipment. Once you get the swing of it and have a few piece of gear, you can change things up like you would on a modular synth.
Outputs goto Inputs, all will be fine, just watch out for feedback loops.
Good luck, keep asking questions, try new things, and have fun with it.
But.........get rid of the PC, most keyboards are nothing more than specialized computers, how many computers do you need. Performances controlled by a mouse are boring.

I use the following setup with Kronos/Virus TI for jamming and recording ideas. Should work also with most expanders too.
Midi:
- [Kronos out] to [Virus in] (to share the same midi clock and to switch programms in Virus)
- [Virus out] to [Kronos in] (to record the Virus keyboard playing in Kronos)
Audio analogue:
- [Virus out] to [Kronos in] (to have both audio signals mixed and sent to Kronos outputs or recording)
With my DAW I use:
USB: for Kronos/Virus editors (vst or stand alone)
Audio digital:
- Virus in/out and Kronos in/out to a PC audio interface

I have a bunch of different keyboards and a module so I tend to re-patch as is necessary.
One thing though. If I feel before I start writing that I'm going to do this, I use my outboard sequencer and not the one in my Kronos.

If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
