Hi, I've just been looking on YouTube, and found this video.
It looks like something is going on...
Was this the same guy who said he was working on the continuous rhythem almost 6 months ago?

If we see stunning things like command lines receiving button messages, as early as months after starting the hacking project, I'm looking forward to see a whole rewritten OS following next, within three or four - erhh - decades?
Joking aside: I really wish Heider as much fun as possible with his free time project. But I doubt that it will be too relevant for anyone in here anytime soon.

Hi Jim,
I think reading the comments on YouTube. It sounds like he did alot in 6 months time to recode (re-compile) every single function to come up with the exact same system,
The test was done on 2 or 3 functions only to show that he is now able to do more stuff later on, am I right?
I wish him good luck too

SimoneS, you are right: I overlooked the comment: following Heider, there was done much more than just providing a working interface as shown in the video.
Allow me to be sceptical anyway, about the time needed to change this OS substantially with useful functionality. The company which wrote the editor needed a full year, just to implement the ~ 50000 parameters of the K.

Would still be veeery cool, if there was an opensourced API for user provided modules, methinks...

LOOOOOOOOOOOL
They needed a year to re-write a new OS, I assume they have access to the source code already?!...
From what you said Jim, I think he's doing pretty well (without source code given to him) if it's his part time hobby!

This guy drilled holes in the back of his Kronos for port new I/O, such as the VGA monitor connection.
This guy broke the Kronos GUI.
This guy is a bigger geek than me.
It's cool, but where is he going with this? What is this hacking going to add that can't be done via CC's, from a player/sound programming perspective?
Don't get me wrong, keep on hacking away and Youtubing the results, I keep watching.
good luck

If you buy any CAR, from any country, you could modify your vehicle.
Apparently KORG doesn't know this or honor those that paid 4K to "own" the Kronos. Like a Car, someone will want to make changes, add a new Feature!
In my opinion, Korg would best improve the Kronos Sequencer, and add ADAT protocol to the optical jack so we can use digital connection to DAW to get several tracks/channels of Audio - without having to go Analog again.
People who spend 4k on a workstation are serious, and many need professional interfaces and features. Kronos is just a TAD shy and could use a couple of small changes to make this great keyboard useful to professional musicians like Peter Gabriel. Peter had to use the 6 analog
jacks to get the sounds out of the Kronos, where he and other would only use Optical... There is no re sampling or degradation with optical.
Korg - either bring these needed changes or let someone else improve
the product for those that need these features.

Well,.
If I remember correctly on the forum that Heider was on (not sure where it's gone now), Dan@Korg mentioned that no one would understand the Kronos in 6 months time when Heider was there to challenge it.
However, the video above clearly shows that Heider did it (at least understood something out of it), or still not forgotten about it.
I think the idea is that capturing the On/Off of a button is cool, which is why I have no doubt that soon we might see the ENTER key to start to "work" on the menus, which has already mentioned to Korg more than 6 months ago by many people on different threads.
I quite disagree with Jim (sorry) about these taking decades for a change.
If I also remember, Heider wanted to do the Drum and Karma on/off which is probably why his video / API starts with it.
I guess (if I understand this correctly) he's probably working on all the items that Korg siad (no) or (impossible) to, it's why I think changes are not far away.
I am anxious to see what he comes up with, ...
But the idea that others (who has the source) quoted a year to do this, whilst Heider with no Source did something in 5 months is amazing...
It's sad that he's no longer on this forum... I joined his website and sent him a private message asking him why.

No need to be sorry to diagree. I do not really know what's going on there and can only make guesses based on general assumtions. So I could simply be proven wrong.
Frankly, concerning music gear I'm only interested in pragmatic results from a creative musical perspective. I saw no problem in building a better SSD and fan into my Kronos, because I simply knew it would work. Concerning bigger changes, I am just as curious as anybody else, where this might lead.
Maybe I'm just a bit more sceptical than others.

here it goes again. Korg had to keep the Kronos cost down to capture the $2000 - $3500 ( US prices) workstation market.
The workstation market was severely declining for some years. I think the Kronos has shown that there is a market in the $2000- $3500 range. I paid $3000 for my 88 and consider it a bargain.
When I read this forum there are 10-20 features that folks state should be on the Kronos. Some of these have good bang for the buck enhancement, some sound like major software programming.
I think Korg understands this list of 10 or 20 very well. It really is a business proposition for them , what makes sense features vs cost.

SimoneS has been banned for what looks like faked IP's and that this is in fact Heider posting.
I made this decision based on the fact that.....
12 posts were made by SimoneS.
5 come from Switzerland.
7 are from the UK where Heider lives.
1 of the IP addresses is a perfect match for a IP Heider used to post many messages from.

I had the honor to work with Peter and his team for a few weeks last year, and they didn't mention any concerns about this.

Nice one Dan. Even I know Peter Gabriel has nothing but love for Korg Synthersisers.

Well done boss. I had my suspicions and was just waiting for him to slip up but you beat me to it!
