Keep same Tempo while changing programs?

I'm working out a few things, with a tempo of 85bpm, but whenever I try out a different patch, the tempo (obviously) changes and I have to keep re-adjusting.

Maybe it's old age (more than likely) or too much coffee, but I'm sure there's a control somewhere that enables you to change programs while keeping the same "global" tempo.

...maybe it was it on another synth somewhere, or perhaps I dreamt it

I just skimmed the Parameter Guide and as far as I can see the tempo is set either by the saved program tempo or by using an external midi clock/signal.

So you would either need to use an external midi device to synch the tempo to (useful when auditioning patches), or for performing, just set the tempo of the program(s) you want to use to your desired speed/beat and save that program to a spare user slot, (if you don't want to change the original patch tempo), and use that saved patch as the source for your Combi/Performance.

For a quick set up to keep the tempo constant I tend to connect another keyboard via midi cable (out) to the Kronos/Triton midi in and then set the Kronos/Triton to Ext Midi ... depends on whether I'm working with the DAW or just playing around auditioning sounds

Yep ... I know that one  ... though I can't find which bit of kit does that either ... :?

I'm going to go out on a limb here:

But I seem to remember that you can change the tempo in each prgm at the top right. But I could be wrong.

I can think of two ways of doing this..

-Test the patch in a combi with the BPM set to your needs.

-If you are connected to a DAW, BPM will always be synced to your setting.

There is no global setting to keep the tempo fixed when you change Programs, Combi or anything :(

Indeed, this would be a great feature to have on Set Lists...

Every suggestion given is effective and considering your scenario, I think that the most practical is to make the Kronos follow the tempo of an external keyboard, connected by MIDI.

I don't really get why you need the tempo to remain the same throughout patch switches, since the drumtrack and KARMA stop anyway?

Couldn't you simply select your patches in seq mode using category or bank browsing? Or copy from program if you really need the fx.

I think this would be a very useful feature too. If you want to use a step sequencer or a karma patern this wold be the only way to be synced with your drummer.
For instance I use multiple setlist slots for a song. When you change the next slot not just tempo is changed but also the clock is reset. So if we can get a tempo lock option will be great. I will try also with an external clock source via midi. Thank you for this tip.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Thanks MarPabl - Done and working :)

Basically I'm jamming along to old tracks I've written, looking for new inspiration to improve them using Karma etc... If the Program/Combi isn't working for me I just try another, but that's where I have to keep stopping to change the tempo, and before you know it that great idea you had has gone.

Cheers.
