German Grand C#2 making odd noise?

Hi all.

Just noticed any of the int A001 to A005 German Grands, if I play C# that's two below middle C (right under the 1/9 slider on the 88 version), it makes a strange extra noise almost like an extra higher note or whistle is there.

Anyone else notice this? Don't think it's a problem with the machine, other sounds play fine on it, might be a badly sampled note?

Tried it with damper/mechanical noise etc turned off, still does it.

Weird, if no one else can here it, I'll try to record it.

its almost like the sound you get rubbing a wet finger around a wine glass or blowing over the top of a bottle (a high pitched bottle :) )

its probably just the resonance of the other strings when that note is played. Usually with the damper on you shouldn't hear it but maybe the piano they sampled, you could hear it. Its unlikely but possible I guess.

There's nothing wrong there. Piano notes are inconsistent. That's the nature of the beast. I've never owned an acoustic piano where the notes were consistent across the keyboard. And I've owned several high-end pianos. This is where sampling each note, which Korg has done, is a lifesaver. When you have these imperfections and they are reproduced exactly in a group of notes, it just amplifies the problem in a very bad way.

If I would offer criticism with the Kronos pianos, it would be more along the lines that they're almost too perfect.

Just compared it with my 73 key and it sounds similar, pitch tone etc.,but I can't detect the whistle effect.
At this time of a day,(gone 1 am )I have only listened through headphones,so maybe they mask or colour too much to make a proper evaluation.

However,D sharp above sounds even stranger....having a sort of rising decay.....???....
I think it must be the actual samples and perhaps an eq tweak could help modify to suit,if needed.
They both sound ok as they are, to me,though.

I wonder if it will all sound different at another time with a fresh start, due to the ear/hearing fatigue syndrome etc.

Best Wishes.

Ojustaboo,

If it helps, I experienced the same strange extra noise in the very same key.

Many thanks all.

I was sure it was the way it's been sampled, just wanted to check I hadn't done something odd to my settings, its good to hear others can hear it too and I'm not going mad :)

Best

Just tried these notes again, this time via my monitors and although individually the c and d sharps sound a little odd, with added nuances etc,but...within a chord or added notes, even just an octave, they sound nice.......to me,that is.

I still like the German Grand, lately even liking J.Rudess Japanese one as well which I couldn't get along with initially.

However,as I've yet to sort my keybed problem out (yes,I know I'm dragging my heels a bit etc),my main piano playing is limited to the HD 1 as this the only one that's closest to being the least effected with the velocity responses.
I'm missing out on a better sound,of course, but will need to wait until the repair/exchange has been made,as I'm currently concentrating on the string sounds for ongoing projects.

There will be a time when I shall have to take the plunge with the rectification and of course will report the results.

Just realised I've added more than intended, forgive me if I'm being rude, just my thoughts at the moment.

Best Wishes.

That's natural piano behavior and nothing to worry about :D
