Heartfelt thank you to Korg for saving my gigs.

As only a handful of you might know, I had a condition that was discovered in the past year that led to progressive seizures which eventually led to a Grand Mal seizure in late January of 2013. A few days later I had unplanned, "emergency" Brain surgery to remove the cause.

The result of the final seizure/hemorrhage was full paralysis of my right hand which I am still recovering from which improves about every day. Though I've still got a long road ahead of me! It has been very hard and scary for everyone. We are thankful I'm alive and are moving forward together.

As if that wasn't enough, I am in a highly specialized wedding/dance band with LOTS of big gigs scheduled for April/May 2013 with brides expecting us for their special day. As you might gather this modern music is heavily dependent on keyboards and a standard fill-in wasn't really going to cut it (We tried!).

The final part of why the above matters is my wife who's not only taking care of ME and our family is the band LEADER/OWNER and is responsible for these wedding/private $$$ CONTRACTS. Also financially between both of us we stood to lose a LOT of money on top of the mounting medical bills. To boot, the private work for the band was really starting to take off which would have been a shame to miss out on after years of hard work.

That's the situation, now to the point:

So, I can only really play with my left hand, and have all these parts to play/cover. The solution? The Korg KRONOS and the NANOPAD2! The Kronos allows you to assign 8 pads PER PATCH (In my case combis) that could be used for each song, or by making a patch for each song which is often what I do. The other 8 I use for percussion (often to the drummer's dismay LOL) and sounds for comic relief.

For about 95% of our material (200+ songs), between my left hand and splinting fingers on my right hand on the nanopad or getting fancy with my left hand on the nanopad I can cover all or enough of the parts to where no one (often even the band) notices a difference. Just did my 3rd club gig!

I wanted to thank Korg from the bottom of my heart for implementing this feature which gave me a solution to continue playing as I recover.

Sincerely,

-Wes Loveday

Hi Wes,

I had no idea that you had been through so much. It's great to hear that you are slowly making progress and are still able to play your music in some way. I wish you all the best and hope you continue to improve each day.

Glad you got through the surgery OK.

Congratulations for making good out of a bad situation.

Nanopad2 is amazing, even more so when you consider how little they cost.

I hope you have a speedy full recovery

best

Wishing you a fast and speedy recovery. Great creative solution. It also shows a person of great fortitude and one who is looking at what he can do insstead of what he cannot. Good for you.
