Newbie question: Can't create a simple layer (no sound)

Post by DaBlick »

I just got my new Korg 88 Kronos.

So I'm sorry to ask such a newbie question but...

I'm merely trying to make a new combi with a two-timbre layer: piano and organ (for starters).

I started with the default "Init combi". It comes with timbre-1 set to a reasonable piano sound. I set timbre-2 to be an organ sound, but I can't get it to produce any sound.

I suspect if you start with "init combi" you will have exactly what I have and have the same experience.

First, I'm NOT an untechnical idiot. I'm a former CTO of a software company.

So let's rule some obvious things out:

1) No ttimbres in the combi are solo'd
2) The volume of timbre-2 is at 127
3) No timbres are muted
4) The keyboard zone values are set to the entire range (identical to timbre-1 which is sounding)
5) The velocity ranges are set the same as timbre-1)
6) I have the same problem no mater what program I put into timbre-2

So, I may be naive but I think I have covered all the obvious bases.

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to why I'm not getting anything to sound
from timbre 2?

Thanks,

DaBlick

Because your MIDI channel is Ch2 on the second Timbre.

Goto Timbre/Param and choose the MIDI tab. You will see that it is receiving on channel 2. Set it to 1G or Gch.
