Newbie question -- bootup time?

Hi, I've noticed that my Kronos 88 takes a full 3 minutes to boot up. I was hoping this wouldn't be an issue, but during a live performance last week, some roadie knocked out the power for a few seconds and the keyboard had to reboot. I was dead in the water for 3 minutes.

Does anyone know a way to do a 'quick reboot' in an emergency like this?

Thx,
Scott

There's no quick boot option.

There have been quite a few threads about Kronos users who have got a UPS to help mitigate such situations as you had.

Yes I have a UPS and works great ... I will try to remember putting the type/brand here (also promised it to another member btw).

It also has other benefits, like even when there is not yet power on the stage I already can try out the Kronos.

Yes, I used and APC - UPS.
It's a bit heavy but that's the price to paid to not to be too late on stage after a power shutdown :D
Compared to a PC, Kronos is a light charge load.
It stays power on at least 30 minutes with the UPS, I don't run the until the end.

This is the UPS I use:

[Netherlands/Germany]: (I have this):
http://www.beslist.nl/computers/d000020 ... -GR_).html

[US version]:
http://www.apc.com/products/resource/in ... _sku=BE325

I haven't tried how long it works on battery power (also because I have attached the Kronos + one speaker to the 'hot' plugs. The cold plugs (non UPS plugs) have my other gear attached (the other monitor, Korg Triton Extreme, Behringer FCB1010).

Hopefully still within topic and this is not to hijack the OP in any way...just trying not to clutter the Kronos main page...

I want a UPS as well...is there one that offers a HUM blocker with it?

As far as....group loop hum? That would require other equipment, but given that all the equipment hooked up to the UPS will be sharing a ground, you might find the problem eliminated there (from what I read on the issue of ground loops - I could be wrong).

I use a simple APC Backups unit, I believe 500VA rating - seem to do the best.
