So I think I have decided to sell my 88 and looked on eBay for recently sold ones.
There are 3 that where recently sold £1570, £1650 and £1700.
So even if I get the £1700 I will gave lost £1500 on mine in less than a year, really disappointed

Just in the name of fairness and balance, it's the same with the Jupiter 80.
Last one I saw sold for £1,600 - that's £1,100 down on current prices and £1,300 down on release prices.
But then look at OASYS 88 prices - £5,500 new (and then you had to buy the unlock codes for the extra engines on top); last one that was sold got £1,800 - with a Thomann purpose made heavy duty flight case!
Overall, I think it's more of a sign of the times. This may explain why Korg is releasing highly affordable keyboards. Similarly with Roland's new BK-9. Fair enough, not everyone wants arrangers, of King Korgs, or Kross, or Krome but in this economic climate they're more likely to shift than high-end keyboards (I think Roland has suffered from poor sales).
I do like the look of the Volcas though - at $150, you can't go wrong

It's always the same with synths. Prices drop quickly, then keep steady for a while. I'm betting the £1500/1700 bracket will remain so for quite a while.

Looks like I must have been a bit naive, I just looked at stores and they are selling the 88 new for £2569 now so £1700 is looking more reasonable against that figure.
Ill see if I can get £2000 for it and then start dropping the price.

Are you sure you want to do this after all you have gone through?
The keybed problems can really kill the enjoyment, I know that first hand, but I have now sampled my Moog Little Phatty (Taurus Tuba and others) and made some patches/programs with these. It blew me away!
I think this thing sounds really good. Can´t you change it into a 61 version and a Fatar/Studiologic piano keybed?
I wish it was possible to replace the keybed with one from Yamaha or Clavia.

Well I'm not really sure but is looking that way.
The fan noise really gets to me, I don't trust korg to fix it as they made it worse last time. I don't want to change the fan myself as I don't want to void the warranty as I have no trust in the Kronos not going wrong and then korg turning round and saying its not covered.
I'm going to talk to the dealer I got it off to see what they would give me on a trade in for a Nord Stage 2 HA88.
I know the Stage is no where near as powerful as the Kronos but I do know that the Stage still be working in 10 years time.

Yep! I tested it last weekend at my store here in Berlin and it´s easy to use and built strong and reliable. The keybed also responds a bit faster and feels more like a real piano. But the synth capabilities are very limited. Have you seen the new Kurzweil Artis?

It´s even able to recreate classic piano pieces it seems, but it´s not ready yet.

I sold my Extreme 88 (with Moss) for £1000 6 months ago, bought it for £1100 13 months ago, so lost about £200 for 7 months use (had to replace a few buttons etc).
That to me isn't bad and I could have probably sold it for a bit more if I wan't in such a hurry to sell.
If a Kronos looses its value that quick, then common sense says when the next greatest thing is released, people would be better off waiting 18 months and buying second hand for half the price.
Personally, I think its more to do with the bad reputation the original Kronos has. I said it in various other posts that I suspect it will be a nightmare if you try to ever sell an original and it appears thats true.
I know the Kronos fanboys like to say the problems were a minority of boards etc, but the fact remains, most people agree the opposite is true and people that experience various music forums in different countries, what music store staff say etc, all know how bad a rep the original Kronos keybed has.
I would never have bought a second hand original (not that by not going that route did me any good) and I dare say that many others feel the same.
I suspect if you have the X version it will keep its value much better.

Maybe the prices will go up if we stop complaining?
The fanboys will surely agree with me.
Have a good night!

Hmm, that boxed 6 months old kronos 88 sold for £1570
10% of final selling prise up to £75 means £75 charged for selling (plus ebay listing fees)
So now down to £1495
Have to accept PayPal (I got warned for saying cash on collection only, no PayPal), PayPal fees on £1570 3.4%, £53.38. + 20p fee, so 53.58
Meaning you end up with £1441.72
That's quite a loss

Maybe they wouldn't have gone down so quick if it was built properly in the first place
The X really devalued the original and I'm sure they bought it out to try to put a line under the keybed rather than the huge difference in price for the X when all you got was an extra 1GB RAM and extra 30 GB SSD
If I thought I might sell my Kronos X in the next year, I would try to sell it now and get as much as I can for it. But I still love what it can do, in fact I love it more every time I experiment and find something else it can do.
Plus it came with a 5 year warranty in the UK (might have been three but pretty sure it was five) so I do have backup should it die on me. But I think the X is OK, it's beautiful to play on and I think its more the path that led me to here that makes me worry about the couple of noisy keys rather than them likely to become a problem down the road.
Anyway if worst came to worse, in 6 years time if needed, I would rather buy a replacement keybed and fit myself than sell it now for a huge loss and buy something that I know won't give me the enjoyment the Kronos gives me
I know, I'm a little bit Jekyll and Hyde when I talk about my Kronos

Sorry
How long have you had it and how many problems/repairs have you had?
Consumer laws in the UK are heavily weighted in favour of the consumer and you may find that being through what you've been through, still not being happy with what you've ended up with, a properly worded letter to the store (or possibly contact whoever acts on behalf of trading standards now), documenting your ownership experiance and those on here such as mine, would lead you to be able to still return it for full store credit as you don't believe its fit for purpose and have lost faith in Korgs ability to sort it out.
Worth a try even if they decline, making sure you are very polite about the store and emphasise you dont blame them personally, but that after spending that much money, after that many repairs etc, you still haven't got a satisfactory product and reading other people's experiance on here, don't believe it will ever get sorted.
Most music stores are good with stuff like this as they want your custom for life.

BobTheDog I wouldn't sell it yet. Wait and see how easy it is to change. I suspect saving the old one and going in carefully won't void your warranty, just put the old one back in before any warranty work.
