I was using my microkorg with no problems until I unplugged it for a week. when i plugged it back in, there are about four or five random memory spaces that now have no sound at all.... anyone heard of this happening before?

This used to happen all the time with older keyboards like the Casio CZ-101 (Vince Clarke famously would remove batteries just to get the keyboard to randomly "generate" sounds) so I'm guessing it's either the onboard patch memory battery or some type of a power surge or EMP.
If it's the battery, this will continue happening to you until you replace it (I'm not sure how or how often to replace the battery but I've had my microKORG for about 7 years now without replacing it and it's worked fine- knock on wood). If it's the latter then it's a momentary hiccup and will be back to normal when you replace those missing patches (which are available via SysEx if you still had the factory patches).
Other than those scenarios it may be a more serious problem but you would probably notice issues elsewhere besides the patch storage.
Good luck. Cheers!

Thanks for the response! Makes total sense, but with more info I figured out the problem...... it happened on all of the channels preset with the arpeggiator on.... I had unplugged the drum machine it was slaved to and instead of reverting to an internal clock it just rendered all of the settings blank....... weird. I really appreciate the reply!

Glad to help- it's what we're here for! Also more glad that this wasn't a serious issue!
Cheers!
