I always save to user banks (AA, BB, CC etc..)

Since those are 80% empty, finding my timber has never been a problem. But I'll keep the suggestion for a time when I have more sounds though.

Ok so the fact that it happened to others and they also had no idea what caused it makes me lean more towards a bug than towards anything I did. That it never happened to them again makes me feel a little better about going to my gig today.

Apart from loose RAM this is the first time I've had serious headache from my Kronos.

I know it's unlikely to actually find the technical reason like "this and this kernel crashed" or whatever, but I was hoping for a little more specific info or otherwise personal experience with the problem. Sorry if I sound ungrateful, I do appreciate everyone taking the time reading and replying. I was just very frustrated and worried.

Have a good gig Sander. Have a backup ready! Hopefully you won't need it!

Happy to report my Kronos behaved well today, and knowing I needed to check beforehand I made sure I had time to load the latest backup I had and fix the few things I'd adapted since then!

Add me to the list of this happening once. Hasn't happened since. This was when I was on an older OS version also.

It happened to me once with different conditions, few days after I purchased the kronos.

I had a setlist and I saved it on the SSD together with my custom pcg.
I loaded a different set of sounds and later I reloaded my custom pcg and my setlist was, as expectes, still there.

I shoot down the kronos and when I used it again all my sounds were there but not my setlist...disappeared.
I reloaded again my custom pcg but the setlist was not there and I have never found it again.

I suppose is a bug in the OS and hope korg will fix soon, is not so nice to lose it without any reason.

a bit scary

sounds a bit scary.
So being a relative newbie to the Kronos and not having the manual in front of me at the moment whats the best practice of backing up. I have never thought of this and have no idea what files I should backup. My setup is just set lists and a few custom patches but no extra sampling or anything like that.

I do a "save all" from time to time or after a big editing session. I save it to the internal SSD. I name it with the current date. I can delete older backups while keeping the last couple or so.

You can save all to the internal disk or a thumb drive. Go to disk mode. Select the disk you want to save to. Then click the save tab. Click the drop down menu and select save all.

Halo Korg! It's 2016, on OS 3.03 this bug still exists! I lost all my playlists for the first time last year, for the second yesterday. What the hell!...

"DanatKorg" wrote this in the other topic about this same problem:-
DanatKorg wrote:as noted in various places the manuals (in descriptions of the Write commands, for instance), you need to wait a bit before turning off the power. E.g. :

"Do not turn off the power for at least 10 seconds after using the Write Set List command. This allows the system time to complete the process, which includes saving a backup of the data to the internal disk."
Just passing it on....

Also happened to me once on an older OS. Lost set lists as well as some custom combs.
It might be possible that I turned off the power before the 10 seconds as mentioned by Dan and Pete.
I think that Pete's explanation might be a reason why some data was cleared as you created a new set list at the end of your gig.
