While the drums are live (played and recorded by me), everything else is my synthesizers, with the majority of the sounds coming from the Kronos. I used Sonar as my DAW.

I was originally intending on adding a whole set of vocal tracks, but I just couldn't come up with anything (lyrically) that I was happy with. So I added a bit more melody to some parts so it flowed a bit better.

Instruments:
Live Drums
Korg Kronos
Kurzweil PC3
Alesis Fusion
Roland V-Synth
Korg Prophecy
a thoroughly pro effort and result. I think this is the best recording and performance I have heard in some time.
wow thanks! I've basically been seriously teaching myself to mix since December or so. I've learned a lot and am amazed with some of the results I've been able to get. I guess I'm lucky to finally be at a place in my life where I can afford some decent recording equipment and have the free time to actually sit down and learn how to use it.

Don't often see someone else using Sonar. Nice production!
I've been a Cakewalk user since Pro Audio 7 and through the first couple versions of Sonar. I eventually branched out to Ableton Live (around v3 or so) when I was gigging with an industrial band and started using Reaper as well. But I found that the general Cakewalk workflow (and the score view) was lacking in everything else I used. I made the plunge on getting Sonar X2 Producer over the holidays and have been in heaven ever since. I know there are lots of people who swear by other products, but the Sonar workflow just feels like home to me.

I ran a version of Voyetra (which I think later became Cakewalk) on my DOS machine as a teenager :)
And used Sonar from v5 and on. After using most popular DAWs for a while and sometimes out of necessity, some workflow things I just really like. On the other hand, some of the editing options and screen layout has drifted more towards Logic and Cubase since the X versions and it took me a while to make the switch from 8 to X2 Studio. I still use and really like Ableton but mostly live. Mainly multi-taking, routing and fx can't really compete with Sonar.

Like with synths though, the "best" DAW is simply the one where you know where all the buttons are :)

Great stuff and nice use of Mellotron 8)
I agree with your original thought though - nice vocal line would work well
