Ethernet?

Post by Beemer »

Does the PA3x have an Ethernet port and can it load Midi files from it?

No Ethernet, but you can do a direct USB connection from your PC to the Pa3X and transfer files that way.

See the sticky topic a the top of this section for a link to the drivers.

Sharp.

Sharp,

Music room is upstairs and my desktop computer is upstairs in my "computer room". Too far for USB connection and I'd rather not keep walking between with flash sticks. Maybe there's USB to Ethernet (already in rooms) and Ethernet to USB gizmos?

Hi Ian

Just do the one trip to the computer room and dump all your MIDI onto the PA3X - it has a 250GB drive. I have hundreds of MIDI and SET files on my HDD and I'm struggling to use much more than a few GBs.

Arranger keyboards with built in Ethernet is for the vendors who want to lock you into buying their expensive STYLEs and SOUNDs on the Internet !! (Tyros is an example).

You could always invest in a laptop (connect to your PA3X) and then transfer your data to your computer room via your network - problem is that PA3X USB type B is 1.1 and not really intended for data transfer (painfully painfully slow!!!) - it is intended for MIDI over USB.

Or get a nice cheap 2.5" external 1TB drive to replace all the USB sticks....

Hmmmm wish I had enough space at home for a music room AND a computer room - you're a lucky guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete,

Thanks for that info about the 250GB drive. The user manual spec sheet does not mention its capacity.
