first let me thank anyone who walked me through getting my new kronos integrated with ableton and using it as tone generator on multiple tracks.
new question. by looks of op guide i can record the drum tracks midi info to a midi track on my daw.
i know i can record the audio out to an audio track but i can't seem to find a way to get the midi info to a midi track on the daw.
is this in fact possible?
thanks. mick

In Ableton's midi/sync settings you need to enable tracking for the Kronos midi port.
Other than that, there may be some options in the Kronos to enable/disable the drumtrack outputting midi. I'm not sure. But start with the first and see if you can get midi recorded at all.

hi, i have been successful in recording voices and midi info in ableton from the kronos on several tracks set up in seq mode so the ports should be fine.
in the op guide for kronos it says to set the drum track via the vector tab
i have it on the 10 track on the kronos seq set up and i have ableton
set up to receive all channels on kronos and i have tried with just midi channel 10.
i have been able to manually insert one note on that midi track in ableton to trigger the drum track to start on the kronos and the kronos audio outs are playing the drum track back into ableton where i monitor it.
but i can't seem to get the drum tracks midi info to record into my armed midi track.
if i just manually record a couple drum sound hits off the keyboard into that track on ableton (without using the triggered drum tracks on) it records them so i would think i have the tracks set correctly.

In Global/Midi make sure that the Drum Track Midi is set to 10 and "Prog Midi Out" is selected. Also and unfortunately you have to have Local Control "On"
In Lives channel strip turn "Off" Monitoring or you will have doubling.
Recording from the K into a DAW requires Local On for the midi notation output to be recorded.
Also remember when playing back your tracks to turn off the drum track button or you will be listening to a mess of drums. As of yet Live does not support Sysex, so turning the drum switch on and off will not be printed.

To clarify, local on needs only be set to send drumtrack and karma notes. All regular playing on the keyboard is always output.

that did it. thanks so much.
couple other questions:
when i have my midi track in ableton that i have recorded from the drum track on the kronos if i keep the drum voice that i used on the kronos how would i go about being able to adjust indiv. volumes and effects of each drum in kit when recording it to ableton audio track? there doesn't seem to be an independent mixer of each sound in the drum kit that i can find on the kronos, or am i missing that? seems like a stereo or mono (depending on the kit) voice.
also, i have the global midi clock set to AUTO MIDI
it seems to be in sync with the clock on ableton.
is that the correct way to record the drum track to ableton to be in sync with
the other tracks in the song that are already in ableton?
