Sadly I've decided to sell my Kronos and have just completed the sale.

It is a superb machine and I will miss it. I may well buy another 61 note at some point.

But I want to learn the piano properly and playing on some digital pianos, I fell in love with the Kawai MP10 stage piano (well I fell in love with quite a few but the MP10 had things like pitch bend, mod wheels, buttons to play/record on Cubase etc).

Sure the Kronos leaves the MP10 standing when it comes to sounds, but the Kronos is like a toy when you compare it's keyboard to the wooden grand piano like keys on the MP10.

No clunks, beautiful to play. I just had to have it. And being able to play 5 secs after I press the power button is heaven

After playing with Omnisphere, I decided as I have Komplete Ultimate too, I would be better off going the soft synth route, plus with the money I have left over I can buy some more soft synths if I felt the need. Maybe I might buy the Stylus RMX if it does what I think it does and can sort of replace Karma.

Anyway I shall hang around and make the odd comment

I think it's the right decision you hast.Korg has really taken a lot of trouble with the Kronos.

That Kawai stage piano looks really nice, and smart with pitchbend and modulationswheel for using it as a masterkeyboard for softsynths.

Same here...my Kronos is long gone. I am thinking of going completely
Soft...and i am almost there, only one M3 left and thats it, except my
2 Vintage pieces which i wont sell. I might still get ONLY a Kronos at some point.

Ouch.... that's quite a big change I fear you will regret very quickly. The MP10 will take all of 10 seconds to fully explore, where the KRONOS is way more fun and about a billion times more flexible.

That being said, the enjoyment of music is timeless, so if the MP10 does what you need and makes you enjoy every moment, well.... that's all that matters really.

BTW.... just because you don't own a KRONOS any more doesn't mean you have to leave. I would hope you have made a connection with many people and will consider hanging around. I feel I've made a connection with you, and I enjoy having you around too.

We are all musicians at the end of the day here to help and learn from each other in anyway we can. This is not a “Korg Forum” per say, its a family.

Whatever makes you happy, that's what coins. Enjoy the new board and thanks for all your help. If you go for a 61 I think you'll be quite happy with it. Good luck!

Best of luck from an old Brit. I've gone the other way. No more soft synths. Only the Kronos. Just wish there was a piano roll so I could ditch the computer.

That's a shame Joe, I hope you have more luck with the MP10.

It will be sad to see you go after making many positive contributions to the Kronos community, but can completely understand your reasoning.

I have an older Kawai (an L1) which could be considered an entry-level instrument and nowhere near the same class as the MP10. But ten years on it still plays as well as the day I got it, not a clunky key or cardboard spacer in sight! I've opened it up and it's beautifully designed and very easy to maintain.

I love my Kawai too, but also love my Kronos for sound design. Though I've been quite disappointed by the DAW integration with the KRONOS I have to admit.

Anyway, good luck with your musical adventures and hope you can continue to contribute!

it's a different approach but with a good masterkeyboard and Omnisphere and the Komplete suite i'm certain that you won't miss the kronos. That's also a killer computer setup.

Stylus RMX has nothing to do with KARMA like functionality, Stylus can create groups of rythmic samples from loops and mix them together to a create a new loop and chop them up in seperate samples which you can play with a midi template (or random generated hits). I think it's a fantastic program for drums.

I hope you find what you are looking for in your new setup, that's the most important thing for a musician that you keep inspired to use your gear. What kind of gear this is irrelevant as long as it keeps inspiring you

And i hope you keep posting, i always enjoyed your posts which were critical some times but always had good arguments.
