copy wav loop from Mac to Trex

I have drum loops from loopmaster that are in my mac(pb, OS10.4) and that I want to copy to TrEx. Mac sees TrEx and I can test the configuration and send info from TrEX to Mac but I can't copy the file I want. (PG, p329)
Also this interesting exchange between Shrike and Mezzojammer from 2008:

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... load+loops

When I do the UTILITIES/USB STORAGE MODE STEP Shrike talks about, the TrEx just stalls until I hit EXIT. I could get the files into the sampler via the audio input jacks but I thought this would be quicker and better. Not turning out to be quicker in the short run.
Thanks. David

It looks like it stalls because you can't use it for anything else while in that mode. If you have a CF card in your Extreme and you've hooked up to your Mac via USB, the CF card should show up on your Mac after starting USB storage mode. Alternatively, I'm pretty sure you could just use a USB stick, most sticks up to 4 GB should work.

Thanks for rapid reply. I didn't get the usual email notification or I would have responded sooner.
When I started USB STORAGE maybe I didn't wait long enough. But I did wait a good 15 mins 1 time and the "processing " message was still there. Even if it has to read the whole CF card, I have only 500Mb on that card.

I tried the USB stick approach and the TrEx could read it but I got the "file contains unsupported data" message on each of 3 or 4 attempts to LOAD a file.
The files are in a Loopmasters package I bought. Contains several folders for samplers (EXS24, Halion, etc.), a folder of REX files , and a folder of JD (Jazz Drum -nice) WAV Loops. Each WAV file is about 10 secs. I have bought a couple of packs from them before and I was able to load them into SAMPLING and use them. Any thoughts on why I should be getting that message?
Thanks. David

You're saying it doesn't show up on your Mac? Could you try a different computer or USB port? Or try to plug it in AFTER setting it to USB storage mode?

Sorry, I don't know why it wouldn't read those samples. Unless there's odd characters in the name or you're using a lot of subfolders. Possibly they're 24 bit or something? Officially Triton only supports 16 bit 48 KHz, you might try a sound file converter? I use Switch from NCH software, you can try it for free and it's pretty cheap afterwards.

Thanks.
What shows up as external media is the Extreme. But I can't copy any file from the Mac to the Extreme.

Interesting you should say that. For that's what support at Loopmasters said.
it could be that these files are Acidized WAV files and your software cannot read the meta within the files.

If you need to strip the data from the Wav files have a look online for a free editor that will remove the meta data from the files so you can import without any issues.
It could also be, as you say, that the file title contains odd characters. I did try WavePad to try to "strip the data" but found it no better really than Garage Band when it comes to manipulating loops. I will try Switch.
Also, I find on trying again that it's not true true I'm able to load via USB previous loops I got from Loopmasters. I must have just sent them to audio inputs 1 and 2 and loaded them that way. I forget. The lesson in this is that, when it comes to getting comfortable with sampling, it's important to keep it up once you start.
I'll try some things and let you know.

Brilliant! A nice little conversion and away we go.
I used Swtich to convert to 16 bit. Choose Custom, PCM,16 bit, 48kHz, 2 channel. What a slick program. Easy. Efficient.
I was a bit concerned about the Microsoft PCM choice in Switch but the only other choice (G something) didn't allow me to switch to 16 bit.
So thanks a lot.
Oh yes. I tried changing the file name from jd_loop_1.wav to jdloop1.wav but had no effect on loading to sampler.
Lovely.
Loopmasters has been supportive too and suggested as well that I switch from the 24 bit rate of jd loops to the 16 bit rate of my previous downloads.
