Drum Mixer in KRONOS

Hi all!! Been a long, long while.

I just set up a combi as a drum mixer being triggered by an Alesis DM10 Pro Kit. Each track has one main kit (or several different kits) across 4 tracks with each track having a specified midi note range (like kick drum range from C3-C3). No effects, just going through the console clean. AND - each drum kit sound coming out of it's own channel (4), with two stereo channels left for the keyboard.

Anyone else do this? If so, do you have a better setup for this kind of thing? I'm recording the Kronos drums with keyboard into Cubase 6/ Pro Tools 11 with guitars and bass live in one shot (for the band feel). It works great and again, I was wondering if anyone has a better way of doing this that would like to share with me. Right now, it's pretty sexy on its own, but I welcome any improvements/ enhancements.

Thanks.

Not a drummer specifically myself, but you might want to take advantage of velocity layering in addition to your one drum sample per track/pad to make volume based variations possible.

For example same basic set up you are using now but with medium volume (0-124 with a 4 note cross fade top) tom hits with timbales at maximum (120-127 with a 4 note cross fade bottom). The cross fade helps to make the transitions between drums less abrupt and gives you a small buffer in case your volume is off a bit between right and left hand. Of course, it will also help to practice enough to make the required adjustment of your playing style feel more natural and to get transitions smooth.
