SONAR X2 Producer and PA3x

Post by henkrits02 »

Hi
Please help!
I'm not new to Cubase, and Roland, worked with it a lot. But I am new to the PA3x (or Korg, for that matter), and trying to get PA3x to send and receive MIDI to SONAR. I have Midi IN and OUT correctly connected to my Presonus soundcard, and have switched local OFF on the PA3x. I switched to sequencer, and made sure it's set to external sequencer. I made sure the input in Sonar for my midi track points to Presonus Midi, as well as the output. Also, that it is on channel 1. Playing channel 1 on the Korg (has piano selected) does not show any midi activity, and doesn't record anything.
What secrets don't I know about KORG midi setups? PLEASE help, getting desperate, is the PA3X maybe not a good choice for laying down midi tracks in studio setup? Roland and Cubase was just so much easier......

I have not tried hooking up via MIDI cables.

However, I am using a USB cable connected from Pa3X to PC and the Sonar X2 is seems to be working fine that way. May be you should try that? Less cable to connect?

:) Thanks, problem solved. I still use MIDI cables into my soundcard (which then plugs into USB) but managed to find the correct switches etc to get it working. Also helped to switch off and on (the Korg), sometimes it doesn't register midi changes immediately. Once or twice had to close Sonar also, but that's probably only because I'm still lost in the application.
I'm working through the help files, which are excellent and helps with everything!
