Can I make the mod wheel control lfo1 frequency?

I'm sure this has been asked, I've seen topics before with some explanations talking about virtual patches and such, but I'm new to the scene and I've tried the manual, can someone just give me a straight up walk throguh of what to do instead of assuming I know what I'm talking about? I've searched and searched and tried figuring it out my self and I just cant get the mod wheel to control the frequency instead of using knob 4 to change the timing of my dubstep wobbles.

Hi,

First you need to figure out which parameter you're exactly modifying with knob 4. I assume you first turn 'edit select knob 1' to LFO2 or something? Then it would mean that knob 4 controls the frequency of your LFO 2. (See the matrix printed on the mK)

Then it is a matter of finding a free virtual patch to set up the mod wheel controlling the frequency of the LFO. Let's say patch 4.
* Turn 'edit select knob 2' to patch 4.
* Turn knob 1 to select the source, which is the mod wheel. (Turn completely clockwise)
* Turn knob 2 to select the destination, which is the LFO2 frequency. (Turn completely clockwise once again)
* Turn knob 3 to select the intensity of the mod wheel to the LFO 2 frequency. (At 12 o'clock, there is no effect, after 12 o'clock)

Note: typically the modwheel controls also how much the LFO2 will change the pitch ('vibrato intensity' parameter). Using this new patch, the modwheel will control then both the pitch variation and timing of that variation at the same moment. Maybe you want to split that and set up e.g. the pitch bend wheel to control the timing of the wobbling. Use then the pitch bend wheel as source instead of the mod wheel. Remember in that case to set the 'bend range' parameter to 0.

Have fun.

at 34 seconds u can see him changing the timing of his wobble on lfo1 on knob 4, this is what im wondering if i can switch over to the mod wheel instead of having to use knob 4

Hello,

Well it is possible. Even better, the guy demonstrating it, posted another video explaining it!

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdLB6nYYKYk - around minute 3.

It basically is the same as what I explained. He is setting up 2 virtual patches:
1. The first one uses LFO2 (src) to control the cutoff frequency of the filter (dest). This gives you the wobble. I assumed you had a program doing this already. Because you talked about turning knob 4.
2. The second one uses the mod wheel (src) to control the frequency of LFO2 (dest) and hence the speed of the wobbling. (See my previous post)

Try to follow it, build it up the same way and play around with the settings.

Enjoy!
