Hi folks. Just got my Kronos X and I'm thrilled beyond thrills. What a machine.

As good as the manuals are, they are a bit sparse in real world examples, so I need help learning the Combi mode, and I have a couple of questions.

1) For the sake of practice I imagined a case where I have to play a cowbell in my left hand while playing piano in my right. And since not a single cow where about I need to play it on the kronos. I placed the piano on track 1, and a drumkit on track 2. I used the keyboard zones to isolate the cowbell, G#4, and now I want to move it down to A#0. What do?

I haven't figured out sampling yet, but I imagine that could be an option? If so, what do?

2) say I have a Combi with 4 sounds, piano and strings, Rhodes and pad. Is it possible to assign a pedal or a SW button to mute the tracks so I can have piano and strings as a default, and rhodes and pad when I hit the pedal/SW?

2 - You can use Karma to do this. Is really easy.
There are some great tutorias on internet related to "Using Karma Scenes to Switch Timbres" - the process is the same to M3, Oasys and Kronos.

As for 1, you can use the timbre transpose function to "move" the samples up and down the keyboard. The cowbell is pretty high up though so if you really need it way on the left you could also consider editing a user drumkit (from global mode) and simply adding a cowbell directly to the key you need.

very easy, just set your key zone on the drum track to A#0 (bottom & top) you'll probably have a kick drum or something when you play it...then go into the timber parameter, pitch page and transpose that track up (+) until you hear the cowbell...the kronos can shift at least +/- 48 and the cowbell is usually somewhere in the 3rd octave...I do it with cowbell, handclaps, sidestick, etc. all the time...

Thanks guys! Is there a way to program an action when a key is hit? Like the leslie: as soon as I hit the first note, the rotors start.

Don't know about that but I have mine set so that when I'm playing organ a smile tap on the damper/sustain pedal triggers the Leslie speed.
