I don't really understand the need to erase those combis anyway. You can always overwrite them. It's not like they're taking up extra memory or somethng. Is it just a "neatness" thing?

This is a good damn expensive piece of equipment, there should be an option to do filemanaging without buying an external CD drive and to the "restore and update" from there. I want my kronos like it was when it came from the factory. Nothing more, nor less.
Have you contacted product support at your national Korg Distributor, by any chance? For instance, in the USA, that would be Korg USA; see my signature for links to the distributors for other countries. They should be happy to help you out.

Thanks you all for being patient.

Yes, it's a neatness thing, but hey, I like it neat. That's the way it is.

Bought a DVD drive and did a full install. Worked wonders. Also saved everything when it was fresh, so when I mess up again (and I will. I'm new to this load and unload methodology) I will have the option to do a clean start without doing a full install.

But seriously. There has to be a better way. Like for instance a way to reset s**t.

Well as a couple of people have explained it's actually not that hard and certainly doesn't require an OS reinstall from a USB DVD drive.

It would definitely be nice if there was a PCG included that empties all banks with custom sounds. You saving the "clean" set effectively serves that purpose now.

I have a pcg of empty banks. Actually a couple, one to have empty HD-1 and the other Exi. That way I can clean out anything at any time to start a fresh bank.

Note that you can initialize Program banks using the "Set Program User-Bank Type" command. There isn't a similar command for initializing Combi banks, however.

I realize that I'm in the wrong place here but it occurred to me. Does anybody know if there is a PC emulation for the iPad so I cna run Sander's PCG tools?

I don't think so. Also, I would love to take credit but I haven't written a single line if code for that, it's Michel's :)
