This is my remix of Corona's 1994 classic "Rhythm Of The Night.
This has been created 100 % on my Korg Kronos, including fx, mastering and mix down.
Enjoy

Very, very nice. Would you please elaborate a little more about the vocal? When you mean 100% on the Kronos, would this also include any sample chopping (and all the things you needed to do in the sampler) with that vocal as well? Also, when mastering in terms of the 'loudness' factor, do you feel the mastering limiter holds quite well to squeezing the db's to make it as loud as you needed to (if that was even a part of your goal?). I'm impressed with the Kronos' ability (and yours!) to do quite an admiral job from beginning to end for a semi- to fully professional project! Any production comments on how you thought it was for you in creating this project would be nice to know as well, and I'm not talking about tips or secrets, just insight.- Thanks, T.

Yep everything was done on the kronos bar creating the youtube vid. I took the acapella into the korg sample editor and made a multisample of different vocal sections like verses and chorus. The samples are played back from ram instead of ssd as it is an absolute pain in the audio sequencer, great for recording but not so much for editing. At the start of the track you can hear typical korg wave sequencing Top Of The Popper I-F002. The drums are some of my own kits ive created new sampled individual bass drums and snare hihats etc. the main chord stabs are attacking synth I-E053 and Unison Stab Saw U-E001. Mastering on a synth can be tricky due to the limitations of how many total effects you can have at once, in the kronos case 2, ideally 4 is a more comfortable amount. If i was mastering in a daw i would have them set up as follows, EQ, Compresor, multiband limiter, and either a brickwall limiter or clipper. It is pretty easy to achieve this on a kronos. However it is more back to front. In this track I chain all the insert effects but have the compressor on ifx12 so in a way an extra total effect if you chain all the other ifx into it. then on total fx i have a multiband limiter then the stereo mastering limiter. To get the eq which technically is an extra total effect is in set list mode, but as this is after the stereo mastering limiter care needs to be taken regarding clipping as everything before the limiter will not exceed 0db but this can easily happen if the eq is set to extreme levels. I generally dont like all this loudness as you lose a lot of dynamics but unfortunately it appears to be an industry standard these days to make everything as loud as possible. There is also side chaining as well which helps with the bass and drums where they are not fighting for frequency headroom. Hope that give u a bit of insight

Now please Santa Korg for xmas can we have a piano roll

I know the whole loudness thing can get out of hand, however, I like having enough level (wherever that is, lol) to serve the song and to also make me feel like I'm 'IN' the music. (By the way, I like the extra eq trick from set list. I didn't think about that one.) Yeah, doing most everything in the Kronos takes frugality, but that's kinda' what I like about the Oasys/Kronos' all-in-one idea (given every component is fairly first-rate, which I think the Oasys/Kronos' components mostly are [sub-jec-ti-vi-ty/preferences not withstanding, that is.]) I actually don't mind the guitar/orchestra offerings so much, though I know they could use some additions/improvements (insert distortion effects, too.) Overall, skill in playing, mixing/mastering and everything else are absolutely key as well. Hey, thanks for the feedback.- T
