I rather liked the sounds of the new Nord. Just how is it a downgrade? I need to go compare specs.

Their website has a chart comparing the new A1 to the 2X so I would say that it's targeted as the X2 replacement. It has fewer features than the 4 so I would guess that the price should be in the $1000 to $1300 range.

NAMM 2014: New Elektron drum machine on the way?

Hardware has grid of coloured pads

Ben Rogerson (Future Music)11 hours ago

NAMM 2014: Elektron has been storing its new NAMM release as if it were a hibernating tortoise - tucked away in a box.

But now that box has been opened, and we can see that the company been hiding what appears to be not a reclusive hard-shelled reptile, but a drum machine of some description.

We can see that there's a grid of Maschine-style coloured pads, plus a plentiful control set. There's talk of this being an update to Elektron's popular Machinedrum, though that's pure speculation at this stage.

We'll have more details later this week - as, presumably, will the Elektron website

NAMM 2014: Waldorf teases new hardware

Photo shows a filter but not much else

Ben Rogerson (Future Music)12 hours ago

NAMM 2014: We don't know what it is or what it does but, if the teaser photo it's released is to be believed, Waldorf will have some new hardware to show at the NAMM show.

In fact, the company says that it has more than one exciting new product, and we're going to stick our neck out and say that, based on the fact that it has a filter on it, the one in the shot above will be some kind of synth.

All will be revealed, we suspect, later this week, when you can expect to find more details both on MusicRadar and the Waldorf website.

just this -
We've got a whole lot of exciting NAMM announcements coming this week! Stay tuned for our performance schedule for the show. Hope to see you there - Booth #6440!
Yeah I think that was what I Was referring to. In and of itself, not overly exciting, but given how Korg have been delivering over the past year or so, that was enough to get me interested.

Probably 10 different colours of microKorgs, and 20 new guitar tuners..
And a Krome in Urban Kamo

A Kronos X with sun burst orange brushed metal casing and CNC aluminium sides would be my favourite Korg! But I have an insane taste regarding colors. ;)

If you are serious about recording this one is interesting....I've seen so many of these recreations over the years that didn't deliver I'm skeptical but Slate has taken the industry by storm on other products so this one might just work as it says....He definitely took the right approach by including neutral hardware for a reference....It will be interesting to see what the industry professionals (that have access to the real deals) have to say about it.....moon

That could be very cool. Of course it won't be cheap but then again it still will be a lot less than vintage mics and pre-amps.
