I guess my "really old" iPad V1 just wont cut it then !!

Have the other Korg goodies on it, along with Animoog/Sunrizer synth
and Music Studio, I think it's only IOS 5.1.1 !
They all work very well, it's a 64GB iPad.

I yhink Korg is in the middle of transition from hardwear synthesizers to software. Now they are making iPad apps and leter they will be making real computer software.

I think hardwear synthesizers are dead and music computer software is the feature

Too early to say that Korg is developing a full-fledged DAW? :?:

The ipad 1 was apples biggest flaw in the latest years.. all other products keep getting updates, but ipad 1 was left behind because its slow and not enough internal memmory

Again you are so far off Chili...

Korg has been here before... like in 1999 with their OASYS PCI board... turning a normal PC intoo a hardware synthesiser..

and in the early 2000´s they released virtuall versions and later on VST versions of

-MS20
-Wavestation
-Polysix
-M1
-Monopoly...

(some of this code has been used for the kronos versions)

Korg has allways been a player on the software market... espescially when it comes to modules.. and so this ipad app is just another step of that part of their development team..

The next logical step would be for a Kronos 2 with a more open architecture that allows you to load more new engines either inhouse developed synth engines... or even 3rd party engines developed from 3rd party VSTs.

Korg realises that most money is to be earend from a dedicated hardware platform, that comes close to the flexibillity of a software solutions.. but offers the streamlined interface of a hardware device

Hello Bachus.

I do still think that the best step for Korg will be moving to computer music software.
I do not know what Korg is doing because they did not tell me but i think they will are moving their main focus to computer musical software entirely.

I disagree. For one thing, Korg is a big player in the analog game at the moment - monotrons, ms20 reissues, and now the volcas. I'm just surprised they didn't announce more analogs at NAMM - tho that could be so that they don't steal any shine from the Volcas and let the craze ride for a bit.

So it really wouldn't make sense for them to abandon hardware at this critical moment. That's not to say they won't continue the soft approach - they've been dishing out some mighty fine iOS apps, for example.

Apple has sold over 170 million ipads already. It is already a very powerful tool for music production and as the ipad becomes more advanced it's use in music production will do so also. You can expect to see more in ios apps from korg in the future. Reason, Moog, Cubase, Yamaha and others are already getting on board embracing ios tech. Cakewalk is releasing Z3TA+ in Feb. also. Expect to be seeing and hearing a lot more from Korg and the others through the next few years as ios becomes more advanced and well loved by those who use it.
It is just a case of lead , follow, or get out of the way. Korg is choosing to lead thankfully.

It gets better, but still the ipad is nothing more than a little quite useful tool, compared to a workstation like the Kronos, even on my iPad Air with 128Gb.

In fact Keyboarders will always prefer a real hardware tool as center of their gear, either a sophistcated controller for all their software unified in a useful way, or in a physical worstation with more and more modular software characteristics.

A bunch of scattered software is nothing in comparison, no matter if from iOS, PC or Mac, and it is actually only tolerated because you can handle that more or less good in home studio or studio use, and with much preparation and coordination in live use.

So the future is the the point, where classical workstations and UI-unified software meet half way, possible to approach from both sides.

Apart from that, all the talk about the end of workstations and the beginning of pure software use is utter nonsense.

two words, "midi controllers"!
I can see how you feel Jim and perhaps even why but you in no way can speak for all keyboardists. Just a little something to think about.

Korg gadget app compatible with other korg apps?

Hello people!!! Just wondering who from korg I can annoy so they can sort out their other lush apps to work within gadget?!

It gets on my tits slightly that they never have midi out or clock sync.
Amazing apps but come on korg. Sort your life out then I can sort out mine x
