Hey guys!

I'm looking for a good affordable sub-bass synth, that I can sequence from the Emx.

Any suggestions?

Bless

"sub bass synth" can refer to more than one kind of gear. It can refer to a sub bass synth effect, in which a separate sub bass is added and mixed to the original track, triggered by filter envelope. The SP-404 has this effect built-in. It can also refer to any synth that can be used for bass sounds, including synths designed specifically for that purpose like the Novation Bass Station. The original MicroKorg can serve this purpose well at affordable prices, but so can the MicroX, R3, Radias, MicroKorgXL, and plenty of other synths. The Novation X-Station 25 is my favorite for bass lines because it has a great keybed with aftertouch, XY pad, joystick, and a full synth engine with everything controlled via knobs. The keybed has a nice solid, rubbery bounce that just feels like it was made for bass.

I feel I should also point out, that the EMX should be able to do this without any external kit. Especially if you're already sequencing from it anyway.

But in terms of external gear, I would consider something like say, the Moog Minitaur.

What I'm thinking of, is a small Sound module, that dosen't take spare, so i can bring it to gigs.

Maybe something like moog miniataur, but more cheap.

Of cause the emx can make some sub, but its very limited and it makes clicks

Hmm maybe i should tjeck out the volca bass, but I'm very sceptic..does it makes the clickking Sound too?

The sp-404 Sound interesting..

I see a lot of people using the DSI Mopho with the EMX. (an example of a big name group that has used this combo for a long time: Octave One)

very small module, monophonic, analogue, DSI quality. nuff said.

How about the Waldorf Pulse 2? Looks amazing to me, and nice price, too. Or you could look at a rompler offering, maybe a second hand Roland XV-2020

Planning on doing the MIDI mod to my monotribe for this exact purpose. It just sucks that you can't CC its filter/res :(

Wauw the DSI Mopho seems perfect for the job - and the price is good too!

Thanx for all the answers
