Hello I need some help making my gear talk with each other
I have,
Kor kronos
Mpc studio
Scarlett 18i6 interface.
I would like the mpc to sequence the kronos.
I would also like to play the korg keys and have the mpc to record the midi data. I would also like to sample combi's since they use so many midi channels.
Please help me out. I'm going crazy not being able to make music with new gear.

Wish I had the time. The only piece of gear I recognize in your list is the Kronos. You will probably be able to use the USB Type B (the square connector). there is gonna be a lot of trial and error.

Kronos midi out to MPC midi in, MPC midi out to Kronos midi in. That gives you recording and playback. If you want to sample the Kronos into the MPC you'll also need to run audio cables from the Kronos outputs to the MPCs inputs. Easiest is to use the K's Main L/R.
Not sure what role your Focusrite plays in it all since you don't mention it.
EDIT: Ah I just noticed your MPC version doesn't have in/outs so that means all the hookups go via the Scarlett and you have to select the corresponding in/outs in your MPC software.

Re: Set up help
Do you have a PC or MAC in your rig? AFAIK MPC Studio is an AKAI hardware that requires a computer to be used and the same goes for the Focusrite Scarlett interface. I think, just to plug those in the Kronos will do no good, because the Kronos is not supporting such hardware.Sleazysteve wrote:Hello I need some help making my gear talk with each other

I had a look on the MPC, don't have it myself. It looks that the hardware is controller only. That said, there might be not a sequencer inside the box. It's probably in the software
If you have a computer, then ...
1) install all the drivers of the hardware, KRONOS, MPC, and Scarlett
2) install the MPC software
3) connect them all via USB to your computer and they are available for the next steps.
If you have a DAW or an adequate VST-Host on your computer, then you can combine all your hardware via the DAW or Host and your MPC can, given there is midi functionality, and I suppose there is, sequence your Kronos using your MPC-Software package, which might be a VST by itself. If the MPC Software is "stand alone" than you can use it directly.
Hope this shades some light to your problem
