hello.

I've recently purchased my first 'real' synth, and it is a microkorg.

Love it.

Anyway, I have created an account soley to ask this question, the answer of which doesnt seem to be anywhere on the web, to the experts.

recording microkorg arpeggiator midi in ableton?

Now i can record midi notes from keys, but I can't work out how to record the arp midi notes (from the microkorg), into an ableton midi track.

I have both my in and out ports switched on in ableton, and the clock on the synth is set to ext.

I am using dedicated midi cables (no usb to midi for me), and they are connected to my scarlett 18/6 soundcard.

Please help me!

Thanks

Hi,

It should be fairly simple. You need to set the Position in Global edit from Pre to Post.

This sets whether MIDI outputs the keyboard notes or the arpeggiator notes. And also whether incoming MIDI bypasses or goes in to the arpeggiator.

Hmmmm x-trade, I can't seem to find what you mentioned. Would you be able to guide me?

On the second 'big' knob there's the midi function, but then I'm lost.

Sorry to be a nuisance

Do you have MicroKorg or MicroKorg XL(+)?

For MicroKorg see page 21 of MicroKORG Manual (section "21 Global" - "Position [Post KBD, Pre TG])

For MicroKorg XL(+) see page 58 of MicroKORG XL(+) Manual.

Ah ok. Cool. Thankyou! :-)

I shall take a look later and hopefully will not have any issues! Thanks :-)
